Does the Brute have invincibility frames?
I plow an entire clip of a fully upgraded contact beam into the beast, specifically on the limb's weak points, but it soaks it up like a sponge with absolutely no reaction to it. What gives?

You might not have been hitting the weak point the entire time. With an upgraded contact beam the secondary fire will take a brutes arms or legs off in one or two shots. I'd just use secondary fire instead for anything remotely tough, it's more efficient than the primary fire.

i miss shooting the Brute's frontal shoulder weakpoints from the originals... now im kinda forced to have Stasis ready to shoot its back easily.

I could have sworn you had to remove 3 limbs to kill them in the OG, could be remembering wrong but the fact that they just up and DIE when you remove their legs annoyed the hell out of me, slashers put up more of a fight.

Or you can just flamethrower it all over. I found the flamethrower to be, possibly, the best weapon. You're not required to aim for weak points. It stops most enemies on their tracks... if not, the fire wall surely does and when upgrade it can kill anything and crowds of enemies very easily.

The only weakness is the short range, of course.

I'm aiming precisely where the limbs conjoin with the torso, and the leg's reverse jointed kneecap, just as it was in the original. The Brute has an animation when struck in this vulnerable spot, and when I pour it on with cyclic fire, it doesn't flinch and requires waaaaaay more damage than is typical as opposed to the plasma cutter. Ofcourse this isn't an issue as the brute is stupid easy to defeat, the consumption of munition just doesn't add up. Oh, and I had also gave it a wallop with the contact beam's secondary fire right at the taint. It's quite baffling.

Can't say, had no problems punching it to death the first time, or disassembling it with a plasma cutter on the 2nd, 3rd, 4th and 5th times. It did take more rounds with each successful encounter, as the difficulty level also increased (Story, Easy, Medium, Hard, Impossible).
