So about that heartbeat

I've seen this mentioned before, but there's a persistent heartbeat sound that occurs pretty frequently throughout the game. I don't know exactly what triggers it, but its frequent enough that it gets kind of annoying.

I just finished my first playthrough and loved it, but I'd really like a way to turn down or outright remove that effect fpr NG+ and Impossible mode. Does anyone know if its part of the music or sound effects? Or even better, if there's a way to turn it off entirely (if not, that'd be a great thing to add in a future update)

I believe this was also something that was in the original game. There doesn't appear to be a way to disable it though.

It's Isaacs heartbeat, it happens during "tense" situations, or if you run for long periods. I kinda like it, it sounds like your own heart beating in your ears lol.

The heartbeat is audible whenever you'd expect it to be: when facing a Necromorph, while/after running for a while, being startled, etc.

Dunno if it can be turned off, though. I haven't seen anything in the settings to that effect.

Well thats a shame. I know it's Isaac's heartbeat but I just wish it didn't trigger THAT often

The heartbeat not triggering would kinda be a bigger problem for Isaac tho :P

I was trying to figure out when my heart beat got louder, and at one point in the game when I was in a bathroom, I would face the wall and my heartbeat would go nuts and as soon as I turned away it slowed down. Really no point to it other then ambiance.

This is exactly when I noticed it. Early in the game I was in a bathroom and when I faced the wall with the vent my heart beat like crazy then when I looked away it slowed down. I thought maybe it was a way of detecting necromorphs?

It's a clear reference to the ALIEN films anytime danger is near.

Damn I excited to play this once it goes on sale.
