High CPU Usage?
Tried streaming this game the other day but the game ran extremely poorly even on low and DLSS on High Performance.

I checked over at task manager and the CPU Usage was near 80% tabbed out and probably 100% while playing. Is it normal for the game be using this much CPU?

Its so odd I'm not seeing other people mention this. I tried streaming this as well and when I was alt+tabbed my PC was at a CRAWL and the game was just at the main menu!

I have a 3080 32 gigs of ram, Intel i9 10900k and installed the game on my SSD

Makes zero sense that my CPU usage was nearing 100% sitting at a menu and running OBS.

This game pins your cpu cores and it makes zero sense why.

I've got the same problem, if not others as well, even after numerous tweaks and trying to play the game in the lowest settings possible I can only scrape about 50 fps in areas without much going on and more like 25-30 in larger areas with more enemies and action, and it'll drop into the teens or single digits during cutscene moments. This is just when trying to play normally, streaming via OBS is just a complete mess.

I've got:
Ryzen 5 3600
RTX 2070 Super
48 GB RAM
Installed on SSD and all that, and I realize what I have isn't the cutting edge hardware wise, but given their minimum and recommended specs I'm surprised I can't even really just play the game in low settings without it having massive issues, let alone streaming it.

I resolved the slow poor performance by checking OBS.exe "Disable Fullscreen Optimization"
and "run this application as administrator" but this introduced a different problem where my OBS would randomly crash or freezes, resulting in my stream going offline when it happens.

Yeah, something isn't right with the game. I have decided to stop streaming and playing the game until this matter gets resolved.

Yeah my OBS was constantly warning me that the encoder was overloaded but after attempting a "fix" mentioned in the other replies, the performance now somehow stable but brought in a whole different problem.

Windows gamebar shows like 2% CPU for me in both 1440p or 4K, with or without DLSS.

I think the issue right now is the game is acting weird when OBS is capturing gameplay from it. There are many reports of this problem happening when I search on Twitter.

Though, I have not checked my temperatures while playing the game so far.

Remember if it's like 80 degrees in your house & your PC is using that air it could also make your temps go up

Gonna try running the game without OBS and check it's usage and temps. Will update again.
Madmunchkin Feb 1, 2023 @ 7:01am
Suffering hight temeratures, too. On high settings my CPU had a temp of 90-100°C. Set graphic settings to medium, AA to performance and locked the game on 60 FPS to keep it at 80-85°C. Big differences here should be a 2 or 3+ fan AOI (or an AOI at all) and their positioning in the case as well the case design regarding airflow.

Just ran the game again, CPU was on around 80°C on High settings, DLSS was set to Balanced and game was running around 70 - 80 FPS with stutter time to time. Not sure if this is normal but when OBS comes in, that is where a lot of problem starts.

I have the exact same specs (well, 10900kf) and yeah. This game pegs all ten cores at 100% when i'm tabbed out. If i tab back in and let it sit for like five minutes, it slowly decreases in usage, but not by much.

Yeah this game made my stream crash when I tried playing on launch day. Encoder issues, can't stop the stream, have to force close OBS and it errors out. Does this no matter what resolution i run the game at, windowed, full screen, capping the framerate. My audio comes through fine but my video is a freeze frame until i stop stream and restart OBS.

I'm currently going to try a solution. I'm going to see if using process lasso to limit the process affinity so that it can only run on the first five physical cores, and leave the remaining ten for the rest of the PC. Might help OBS / my encoder keep up.
