What is Denuvo anti cheat? There is a lot of talk these days.

I thought the Denuvo I knew was just software to prevent piracy, but does that mean that Denuvo became involved in anti-cheat as well?

This game is a single player game, so I don't know why they put such heavy software. Wouldn't it be better to pay more attention to encryption and prevent illegal copying?

Yes and no. Denuvo checks certain files for their integrity to prevent the game from being launched without a legitimate licence and by result, also prevents certain cheats. As a downside, it also takes a fair bit of CPU overhead to do this while the game is running so we end up losing performance.

It does not take any cpu overhead, very little at least. It's a myth. Disproven time and time again. There were some very rare cases of denuvo causing issues Supposedly, but no. You are incorrect. Stop whining about denuvo, it does nothing to hinder performance.

You had heard correctly, I posted a link above that has an experiment (two videos of a game, one with denuvo and one without) that further solidifies the fact that it causes issues. Dunno what that guy above is on about but obfuscation of the sort Denuvo does always comes with a performance hit. Its clear the dude above has no grasp of computer programming or how such programs work.

Idk why it hasn't been mentioned in this thread yet, but Denuvo is just the brand/company. The DRM that they're known for is "Denuvo Anti-tamper", but they also make an anti-cheat. https://irdeto.com/denuvo/
