Stuck in Windowed Mode?
Hey Guys, I have a problem where I am stuck in windowed mode from first boot, it will not change to fullscreen or borderless windowed, despite showing it is in those modes in settings. I updated my drivers, restarted, etc. Not seeing anyone else mention this anywhere online.

I always try this, interestingly, it causes the option in-game to change, but the window itself has zero reaction

I've also tried -fullscreen in launch properties, no dice

Find the game's exe file, right-click on it, go to properties, compatibility tab, and make sure to disable full screen optimizations. I do this with most of my games. If that don't work, might want to mess with the dpi scaling options and disable them one at a time till it works.

...and if none of that works, just refund it. That is pretty unacceptable.

nothing's worked so far, tried updating windows, no dice there either. Fortunately, I am playing this via family sharing, so I havent spent any money yet. would like to solve this if I can.

Does anyone know if there are any rights issues this game has? It kinda seems like a file is not saving an update or something

Update, it seems to not be utilizing my GPU at all. Not getting any active use numbers from my GPU during intro cutscene

I have the same problem, Windows 11 13900KS/RTX 4090. I did turn off DPI scaling so that it runs at native resolution but it's stuck in bordered window mode. However the game plays fine and performance seems ok as well. A few momentary stutters here and there but nothing that breaks immersion for me.

I've seen a few other posts on this exact problem so I think it's some kind of bug, nothing I've tried so far has worked. Hopefully gets patched soon but still great game and it looks amazing I think at 4k in DLSS quality.

How are you measuring GPU usage? I see no usage over idle in HWiNFO while the game is running, but task manager shows what looks like normal usage numbers. It's very weird.

I'm having this issue as well. I have two GPUs, two monitors on GPU0 and one monitor on GPU1. When the monitor on GPU1 is enabled in Windows settings the game will only see that monitor, and it does correctly go fullscreen on that monitor when I change the setting, but that's an old 4:3 monitor. If I disable that monitor in Windows the game only sees my central monitor, which is the correct monitor, but it is stuck in a small window no matter what settings I change.

I've tried all the suggestions in this thread and nothing has changed its behavior.

Another step I've tried is setting the SLI configuration to "disable SLI" (normally I have it on "Activate all displays"). No dice.

Only thing I can tell right now is I think it's only seeing whatever monitor Windows assigns to "Monitor 1". Not sure why or if that's related to the windowed-mode issue.

I found a solution from a different discussion: I disabled my secondary GPU in device manager, and it worked. This is very annoying, and I hope there's a more convenient fix, but in the mean time... it works for me!

Thank you Dash! I was able to play on desktop by disabling my secondary GPU

Dash to the rescue! That worked for me as well. I had already done that awhile ago to fix another game, but I guess when I installed the lasted GPU drivers, it unwound it. Good to go now, thanks for posting.

I only have one GPU so this solution didn't fix it for me :( I also tried disabling full screen optimization
