It is slightly different - I mean ♥♥♥♥ off, the game is literally the same. I own the original dead space too - it also isn't on my steam account.
Literally is not the right word to use here.

How is it not the right use?

Because it's "literally" not the same game.
The core of the game is but gameplay has been changed, the entire engine is a different one, different models have been added, different animations etc etc etc.

Ah okay, my bad then. Just got annoyed at the "slightly different elements" part because it was a bit misleading.

I just typed all that up thinking what changes were the most noticeable, please don't do me like this man

I am going to emphasize how identical the game is to someone who is asking the OP's question as "literally" every time, regardless of your personal opinion.

The story is literally the same. The game is literally the same.

Just to piss you off because your some kind of English major.

Oh look at this GameRiot did a side-by-side.

Looks literally the same.
Its pretty much a remaster with some odd pandering throughout the game, which is only noticeable if you played the original
Totally redone voice lines with new voice actors. I think they also changed it so you don't take the tram to next chapter and instead actually travel through the ship. I believe there are other changes and it got a major graphic overhaul. It's the same concept and story but with stuff added in.
Also I'm pretty sure they changed the zero gravity/space gameplay mechanics.
This video is good for going through everything that's changed I think

The game director man. Oh, and the game has been made more like Prey (2018). With backtracking and side quests. None of this is as important as the fact that the original was just a bad PC port that desperately needed an alternative.
It's not the same game. Glenn Scofield's DeadSpace is subpar compared to Motive's
To be honest, beside the gorgeous graphics and peeling system is the original Dead space 1 ways better, more scarier as well, sound designs were top notch, the new necros sound like some generic zombies. You should listen to Ds 1 /2 slashers they should have just keept the original sounds Especially for the wall guardian and the exploders oh and the twitcher, they were pure nightmarefuel now .... meh.. And i think the necros look a little bit less "gross" the older models were far more "brutalized" or however you could call it

I do agree the older models were a bit more scary because they are so much more removed from the humans they transformed from. Something is just so skin crawling about fleshy creatures like that.

I think the sound, lighting, and general atmosphere is more scary in the remake though. Especially the lighting being more dark and moody.
