I see this ("Scan Rig to Unlock Workstation") everywhere, usually near a save-station, but I'm not sure what it means. What should I scan and how?

Nothing. As far as I can tell its flavor text and how an employee would clock into said station to actually do work on the Ishimura.

I think its just immersion stuff like if you worked on the ship
Just ambiance to make it feel real yaknow? Everyday life on a mining ship....before the horror.......screaming.......all the screaming

its probably just how the crew would sign into the computers, since the rigs were basicly ID cards
