Very high CPU temperature
Just started playing this game and I am sitting at between 85°C - 90°C on my 13900K.

I don't usually get this issue on other modern games, it sits at about 65°C on average.

Anyone else getting high CPU temps?

I'm having the same issue with this game making my CPU get hotter than any other game, around 90-95 C when playing. I'm running a Ryzen 5600x still using the stock cooler and utilization sits around 30%+. My GPU is RX6600XT and goes to around 64 C at 66% utilization. I'm planning to buy an AIO kit before playing the game further but reading some comments here it seems my CPU will be fine at that temperature?

My R9 5950 sits no higher than 55c.

It depends on the manufacturer and model, most CPUs will commit emergency shut down when they reach 95-100 °C temperature threshold. This is to prevent potential damage to the hardware. The modern CPUs will thermal throttle before that threshold (which is normally standard BIOS setting, but can be changed for OC purposes). So when you see 95°C with thermal throttling enabled, your CPU may be cutting down on performance to keep it away from danger zone and to prevent emergency shutdown. If you GPU isn't at 100% load then your CPU is bottlenecking your system and you just need better GPU first. If your GPU is at 100% load, then you need better CPU cooler.

bad pc specs.... bad game

two parts to this story

Well, I'm running an i7 11700kf which is known as a hot running processor, using a Noctua DH15 Chromax black air cooler with Thermal Grizzly thermal paste and an RTX 4080 and my temps have never gone above 70C. And, I am using "silent mode" fan speeds as well.

You definitely need to redo your cooling.

I had vsync on since only have 60hz monitor. When I took it off the GPU went to 100% load. I'm planning to buy a AIO cooler in this week.

You need an AIO. AMD CPUs are designed to work at high temps, but every CPU will also throttle itself when it gets too hot, and the difference between "normal operating temp" and "it burns, oh God, I'm going to die" for a CPU is very small. An AIO is the only way I've found to keep the CPU at what I'd consider an acceptable temperature (at or below 40 ºC).

Yes, played on EA Play Pro and (its not the shader compilation) during the whole game my 360mm AIO raged trying to keep the 12700K cool.
There is something wrong with the game engine (and the denuvo crap). I had also nvidia-limited the fps at 144.

What's funny about denuvo is, that it will get pirated anyway, because like anti-cheat programs, it only work against general hacks. Experienced hackers will break it and upload pirated version. So the only results we get is worse performance on legal versions, which then, sort of makes you wonder, if free version is a better option without Denuvo crap, since it won't cause your rig to melt?

I dropped my temps between 50-70 from 70-90 last night. I applied some thermal paste and dusted the vents. Some graphic settings I have on to keep it from getting bad again is 90hz refresh limit instead of 166, and DLSS always resets itself to balanced so I keep it there.

One more thing I’d notice is that the game uncaps it’s refresh rate when you alt tab from the program, and I caught that spiking my temps again. Every time I alt tab I gotta set my hz to a separate setting then back to 90 to keep her good to go.

Just trust the gut instinct that the paste might need a touch up and the vents have a little kitty hair stuck in there. No doubt this game def makes your chip cook a steak medium well for whatever god forsaken reason compared to any other game I have played so far on PC.
Hope this can help someone get to play the game again though. Have a great day.

I had temps reaching 80-85°, but now in chapter 8 on this other ship im at 90°. Every other game im at 60-70° with AIO. So everyone who said your cooling is crap is talking traaaash. (cpu 13900k)

Might be another reason, You may find this interesting. Some motherboards can push the CPU limits, beyond what intel recommends.

Might be worth checking if your MB is allowing your CPU to run without limits (and disable it), that may drop the temp a bit. And the performance won't be hurt that much.

13600k here. Game runs hotter than some other games. Not at alarming temp (about 64deg) but still interesting. Have a RTX 4080 and run the game at 4K with DLSS Quality, other settings on ultra, and dynamic res at 100% so I'm constantly at 120fps (screen refresh with gsync at 120Hz). Never really noticed a degradation in image quality with the dynamic res.

I still get those damn traversal pauses/stutters.

64 degrees is pretty normal, so nothing to worry about. Its when the temps go sky high into the 90's C, then that is a cause for concern. That video should be looked at by anyone with a 13 gen intel CPU, while Intel has set a default for power and heat levels, Some manufacturers of motherboards have added a setting that boosts those levels.

A form of over clocking) but yeah, worth checking your MB and seeing if there is an option and disable it. May help to lower temps and reduce power consumption.

people acting like programming can somehow use more CPU than is available. If it's that high, your cooling isn't good enough for the clocks/voltage. Don't blame software for temps, it's just naive.
