FYI Denuvo is not being cracked any more.
To all you who say "It will be cracked", no it will not.

The latest version of Denuvo DRM has never been cracked. Only one person publicly admits to trying and they are not succeeding.

Myself, I won't buy -D games because of the online requirement. It means I don't "own" what I gave my money for, I'm only renting and the software may stop functioning at any time.

If and when they make uncrackable DRM that does not require an online connection, I'll start buying games with it.

I have the money but I want to own what I spend it on, not rent.

If any of my games ever stop working, I have no issue whatsoever with sailing the high seas. I will "own" whatever I want.

Nope. Steam literally IS DRM, guy.
Reality disagrees. The Steam client is only DRM if it's required to run the game. There are many games, including AAA which do not use Steam's DRM.

Buying anything on steam makes sure you don't "own" anything you buy, at that point what's 1 more online DRM?

Can we tell him he doesn't own the operating system he's playing it on either? Or are we hush hush on that too? :)

He offered a wiki list in support, dubious as that may be. You offered nothing but innuendo. Hmmm... which should hold more weight?

Yea I guess you don't know this but many games sold on Steam are completely DRM free meaning you can copy them and send them to your friend and they can play them without Steam at all.

DRM is completely optional on Steam but most developers will opt to use Steamworks DRM or their own of course.

You say Denuvo won't be cracked anymore? The latest version has not been cracked yet? Well, i'm sorry to say it, but ur wrong. Hogwarts legacy has, and only 10-12 days after it was released. Denuvo can be cracked.

The truth is that pirates don't need to crack Denuvo anymore to play for free but publishers did not get the memo yet and keep wasting their resources fighting a pirate boat that sailed away a long time ago.

For context, this post was made before Empress had a second wind. They were taking like 3 months per crack and only taking longer each time.

But even if Denuvo isn't cracked, alternative versions being emulated can often subvert the need anyway. Persona 5 Royal for example wasn't cracked. But most people who ask for it to get cracked just get pointed to emulating the switch version instead since Empress generally does not like cracking anime games.

Not only talking about emulation. You'll need to do a bit of personal research because I obviously can't speak about it in detail here: tired of waiting for cracks, the ever-resourceful underground economy devised whole websites dedicated to how to play games with Denuvo for free or so without circumventing the DRM.

Technology is an ever changing landscape. Hackers did not throw in the towel, they just moved on to less time-consuming ways.

I am just personally speaking from the point of not getting putting Denuvo on switch games (PC games with switch versions) in the first place. I don't get the point even from their perspective. I don't think switch emulation is perfect, especially day 1. But most pirates will happily settle for it from the pirating communities I've looked into.

I definitely agree. My answer was more or less indirectly meant for that "courageous" individual who left me a jester award. :happyotus:
