Buying anything on steam makes sure you don't "own" anything you buy, at that point what's 1 more online DRM?
DRM is completely optional on Steam but most developers will opt to use Steamworks DRM or their own of course.

But even if Denuvo isn't cracked, alternative versions being emulated can often subvert the need anyway. Persona 5 Royal for example wasn't cracked. But most people who ask for it to get cracked just get pointed to emulating the switch version instead since Empress generally does not like cracking anime games.
