I haven't seen a fix or patch for this issue, is there one that doesn't require changing CPU affinity all the time?
GET BOTH THE OLDER GAMES PATCHED!!
And CPU affinity lowered. 10 and more core CPUs otherwise do not work.
Many older games work better with 2 or 4 core affiniy(that was the norm for many years back then).
That said EA could finally patch the old games but I highly doubt it.
Why does every modder get something like this in a few hours and EA not in 10 years?
However, those who cannot run the game due to these issues should download the core fix and the game will run better than ever.

Probably after launch of the remake.
Maybe someone is interested because it has passed them by so far.
There is a way in Dead Space 2 to get the console exclusive content on the PC.

There is also a mod to open the Conduit Rooms, which contain exclusive audio and text logs that only Xbox 360 and PS3 players had access to.
