Does anyone else feels that Necromorphs have become bullet sponges?
I swear, the amount of punishment they are able to withstand, even into their limbs, is ridiculous. Even if you cut off their legs, they still somehow manage to be nimble. It boggles the mind.

idk man 2 shots with the plasma cutter seems to stop them.

Regular necromorphs can die from even just one fully upgraded PC shot.
And the tougher necromorphs who will crawl even with all but one arm cut off just feels like an improvement over original since it really hammers home the point that limb cutting lore wise is more about immobilizing and less about killing (when all necromorphs in OG die from cutting one leg + one arm it just feels like cheesing an engine limitation than being in the spirit of the games intended design).

That's because you're playing the game on Easy

There are some that die in one shot even in Hard NG+, but on the other hand there are others that happily eat 10+ shots in their limbs.

The remake encourages more use of the environment in combat. Look around; most arenas now have a crazy number of things you can use to impale/explode necromorphs.

The only way that is happening is with a fully upgraded weapon, which I'm pretty sure OP doesn't have

What you said is true but I just like to add a few facts. In my NG+ at medium difficulty, with ALL weapons fully upgraded, the plasma cutter can kill the low level necromorphs just with one shot at one of their limbs, especially their fore limbs. The OP didn't mention how many damage nodes had been upgraded. That can also be a factor. Lastly, which part of the limbs was being shot at. The upper limb (attached to the shoulder part) requires more hits to cut it off whereas the lower limb, at medium difficulty, one shot at the joint can cut it off.
To the OP, the primary attack is not efficient at all. If you are going to choose the rifle as your main weapon, you really have to upgrade at least 3 of its damage (red) nodes.

Nope. Regularly put down "normal" ones with two shots from the plasma cutter. The charred black ones take 3 and the glowing red, stasis-packing, hyper-speed ones take 5, but are more fun to de-leg, then shatter the stasis tank on them and stomp them out of existence, to save ammo.

Only Plasma Cutter, but even then it still feels weaker compared to DS1.

On hard a standard slasher goes down in 5 shots. 3 to sever a leg, 2 to sever an arm. Or just use stasis, run up to them and stomp the crap out of them.

If you want to be super efficient, use something that peels a lot of flesh, like the flamethrower or force gun, and then follow up with the plasma cutter.

What difficulty are you playing on?
The problem can be solved answering this question.
Also, upgrade your weapons via nodes and focus cutting off limbs like the game tells you a few minutes after starting.

Yup. Fully upgraded Plasma Cutter and I'm still hacking away at certain enemies' limbs. I just started laughing when the little head chasing me took two shots, like... Really?

On hard.

Play it on easy then.

The only thing that boggles the mind is people playing games on hard and complaining about it.

That was hard is supposed to be. More resistant enemies is one of the things you should expect.
SmallGespenst Feb 14, 2023 @ 1:37pm
to my understanding there's mechanics involved in the damage Necros take from weapons based on how much limb there is to go through, so if you use the Force Gun to skin one the Cutter will take off limbs easier for example
