Line Gun opinion
Chapter 6 and I really don’t like it, it’s weak and the new mine is fiddly to set and useless in a room or open area, I’m not getting on with it at all

Just place the traps on walls lol. Those things have range and long up time, and if you need to pass through them they don't deal much damage to you as long as you don't stand in their way for too long.

The line gun is fun exactly twice.

It's a blast on your return to the Bridge, when it's full of necros and gives you plenty of room to enjoy the lines.

It's also great on the ground floor of Hydroponics, where the layout creates a nice little pac-man maze to lure all the necros there into one corridor or another, and see how many your can kill at the same time with the fewest number of shots.

After that, you can either toss it into storage or out a hole in the hull, it's almost, but not quite as big a hunk of junk as the Force Gun.

Force Gun
Pulse Rifle
Ripper
Line Gun
Contact Beam
Flamethrower
Plasma Cutter

On play-through #3 right now, still have not put a single node into the Force Gun. Everything else is maxed all the way out.

Best to worst based on? Ammo effeciency? Power? Ease of use? Situational usefulness?
I could put a different ranking for each criteria.

The force gun is actually stupid easy to use but ammo inefficient getting only 3.
The ripper can stun lock AND multikill with best ammo efficiency. Its secondary sucks and limits its range.

Pulse rifle sucks. The end. Its grenade is outpaced by flame thrower without need pick up another ammo type.

As with every gun in this game except the contact beam, it's best when leveled up and in particular circumstances. It's a superior version of the plasma cutter and the plasma mines are OP with the splitter upgrade (the mines create 3 lasers instead of 1). That said, its use is most effective in large open area gank situations where multiple enemies are coming after you.

meta guns are pulse rifles Alt and Force guns Alt and primary and plasma cutter upgraded all the way

I use a shot or two from the Force gun before swapping to the plasma cutter to finish a target off. Depends on how many necros are present and at what distance.

I remember the first time I played through DS08. I used every weapon I picked up, some times because I had nothing else to use. By my first NG+, I was a dedicated Plamsa Cutter user, with a backup flame thrower for those little pinchy pests that pop out of toilets and those fat waddly necros if you gut-shot them. Of course, it's hard to beat a flame wall for contain, control, cremate either.

It was the realization that my ammo pickups was directly related to the weapons I was carrying, with only a few hand-placed instances of odd ammo, such as ripper blades, line racks and pulse... whatever those are.. round-ish things. Carrying only the plasma cutter and flame thrower means I only pick up a few odd ammos, and those I either store because I want to play with one of my other toys, or I sell them to buy things I want or need at the moment.

I agree, the Linegun was powerful in the original because of the trip mines, but this trip 'laser' thing just doesn't work for me. Some people claim the Linegun is overpowered but I don't see it. Maybe it depends on playstyle.

That's right. I love the Line Gun. I have mine almost fully upgraded, and it shreds enemies. Even a marginally upgraded flamethrower is great in the right situation, like those wall bound necros with tentacles.

My main loadout is near full upgraded Plasma Cutter, Ripper, Linegun, then partial Flamethrower. Deals with anything, and I throw in the rifle when I've got too much ammo for it to deal with.

Its trap and the fact it goes through more than one enemy makes it one of the best options. Plasma cutter is still the best weapon tho but when traps are maxed it can kill a tank stuck between 2 of them very easily
