PS5 runs at 976p in 60fps mode
To all the people freaking about about the death of PC gaming or whatever because they can't run this on high with a 3070, Digital Foundry just posted their console Dead Space video.

The PS5 runs the game at 976p in performance mode with 4k output. That's lower than performance DLSS/FSR. Even the 30fps mode uses a lower resolution than 1440p, and has dips.

The PS5 also has the traversal stutter.

So... maybe give our platform the benefit of the doubt, eh?

Yep. People said consoles had the superior version because there were no problems, but the console versions look worse, run worse, and at a lower res with all of the same hiccups...

You left out that it uses FSR2 to upscale that to 2k for performance mode, and 4k for the 30 fps mode

I thought the PS5 was supposed to be equivalent to a 2070 Super or a 2080 (in terms of GPU). Surely it would be able to run 100fps at that resolution, assuming it were unlocked.

Thats very likely. A RTX 2080 super delivers at 1080p/high average 60fps

Absolutely equivalent to the PS5

I'm actually shocked. I thought the 2080 Super was more powerful than that. Based on the benchmarks I've seen, a 2080 Super ought to perform roughly the same as a 3070 or 3070ti laptop. The 3070ti I'm using is averaging closer to 80-90 fps at 1080p/ultra/ray tracing.

Consoles are never exact equivalents so even though the PS5 has roughly a 2080 it's going to be stronger at some things and weaker at others. Also devs usually optimize better for consoles, and rely on Nvidia and AMD drivers as well.

Looking at what the PS5 is doing though I think the PC version is holding up well, despite all the complaints.

This ♥♥♥♥ has gotten ridiculous. Maybe these developers should consider creating games for the contemporary market, not some hypothetical future in which the 4090 is a budget card.

It's pure fun :oD

Everybody wish to have Next-Gen Games

Then, if Current-Gen-Games cames out, the most of them realize, that their actual only 2 years old system seems Last-Gen

All games in the future that no longer have the PS4 as the lead platform but the PS5 will require an RTX 2080 as a minimum GPU.

And as a recommended GPU an RTX 3080/6800 XT and recommended GPU means 1080p@60fps medium setting

baffling how this game runs... would be a shame if they cant fix those stutters and frame drops..

I was getting a pretty consistent 60 fps (except traversal stuttering) in 1440p Ultra settings with RT on and DLSS quality on a 2080 super laptop until my DLSS option randomly disappeared entirely from the menu, so a 2080 super desktop should get better than that. I haven't tried it in 1080p though, just locked it to 30 at around 1600p, so maybe it's more taxing in 1080p with TAA somehow. This game is all over the place performance wise though.

My problem is the new games have such diminishing returns graphically in exchange for their higher performance demands. When Crysis came out it made sense it melted my PC because it was a huge graphical leap, but Forspoken looks worse than Horizon, rather than looking way better.

I'm not even asking for an actual graphical leap, I think it's mostly a waste of time and resources.
