Not sure why they've dumbed it down so much?
They need to pump up the difficulty.
DS 2 has zealot aka very hard and had hardcore which was hard difficulty but with very hard resource drops but maximum 3 saves.
DS3 has impossible same as in DS 1 OG as very hard.
but also had hardcore which is "hard"but only 1 live.
DS1R is basically DS3 hardcore system.
So DS1R misses the "very hard"difficulty the original and others already have but that difficulty also alloved save and load at any time so in some ways it is easier in other ways is harder than"hardcore".
It would nice to have this very hard difficulty added into the game via a patch.
Impossible from old Dead Space was on point. I'm sad the remake doesn't really have an impossible mode difficulty. It's just hard with perma death
OG old impossible was like this :
* The Necromorphs encountered on Impossible are similar to those in Hard mode in terms of health and damage, but are more likely to sidestep the player's shots, making precise aiming key.
* Item drops are even more scarce than before; pre-set item pickups yields much less quantities compared to lesser difficulties.
* Most of the time the amount of ammo collected from fallen enemies wouldn't be enough to put down the next. Killed enemies are also less likely to drop an item, so don't expect your ammo to be "refunded" by the Slasher you have just killed.
* Credits, though dropping at a somewhat higher rate than ammo and health, are in disappointingly low amounts, often leaving the player with barely enough money for anything.
* Hits from even standard Necromorphs are dangerous and can tear off huge chunks of health if Isaac's RIG is unupgraded. Be aware of your surroundings at all times.
Remake is just hard with permadeath but it doesn't actually increase the difficulty of the resource management or the combats.
Impossible will be hard.
