Dead Space 2 - Broken on Modern PCs/High Core
So they have decided to included DS2 as a pre order bonus, yes great for the few that don’t own it.

However are they committed to fixing the now broken port?
It has become recently apparent the original DS + DS2 is no longer functioning on new PCs especially those with a high CPU core count.

I myself had to download a fan made patch to get the game to run.

I don’t think it’s acceptable to still be marketing a product or including it as an incentive, when it’s broken.

However unlikely, I hope this gets brought to EA/Devs attention and they do something about it.

I play mine just fine and I have everything specified to play the new DS coming out. I play DS 1 and 2 just fine. Perhaps instead of overly broad generalizations wait until it is confirmed that others are having issues or share links showing what you're talking about would also work.

At no point did I mention issues with the new DS (2023).

I’m glad DS (2008) and DS work for you, truly I am, I’m jealous as mine crash on start up.

As I mentioned above, this is an issue caused by PCs which a high CPU core count, over 10 cores to be specific.

Here is a link to one of the many discussions about it.

Here is a link mentioned on that post to the steam guide with the community made fix for DS2

This is a real issue for people with high end CPUs like myself and the Devs have a responsibility to fix this, if they plan on using the original games as incentive to buy the new one.

Chances are they won't fix ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥. It's a miracle if they even do any post launch support for the remake either.

Worth pointing out, the CPU core thing isn't the only issue, in fact I am not using a CPU core addressing fix to play DS2 on Steam, I'm using dxvk dll files, what was making DS2 crash for me on launch was the DRM, either TAGES or whatever it comes packed with -- I still had successful activations left when I installed DS2 on my PC.
The fix for me was a, well, "fixed" nodvd exe download...

Thats DRM for you, always "improving" things for the costumers. Meanwhile sailors are issue free

Yeah, it's strange, the DS2 port is quite bad and it's even missing the campaign DLC. Not exactly the pre-order extra people unfamiliar with the franchise are expecting I imagine.

Yeah, I had to fix my DS2, when it booted up you would just get a black screen then the blue cursor and booted back to windows

I managed to get it booting up with the DX Wrapper and it played up with shadow or light issues when you get into the start where Isaac is being asked questions, so the ADK fix was the next best thing and that solved it; works perfect now. I recently had to fix my friends on his laptop as he didn't have a clue how to do it and he gave up, now, he is just having fun and enjoying this great game (DS2)

Same for the looking up issue that is prevalent on the first Dead Space, solved mine with the empty joypad.txt file and it also shows up on DS2 and again I had to disable the second HID game controller in my device manager and now that works perfect. I remember playing on my old 780/3570k/Windows 7 rig and ran into the look up issue then if memory serves me well, but the black screen wasn't an issue due to it being a 4 core system than my current 16 core laptop.

Great games, but most people might have that issue or another and just give up on getting it to work, so this needs addressing on EA's end.

Also... it is a pure shame that severed never made its way to the PC or the console DS1 suits to the PC version.

This. Both play just fine on my Win10 machine.

This is just not true tbh, both games run like arse on Windows 10 by default and that has nothing to do with the hardware but everything with how old the games are. Your mileage may vary on how much this bothers you but in both games you'll get low performance and stuttering.

Installing DXVK fixes these issues though, in fact the compatibility issues are so severe that DXVK will not only fix the stutter but essentially it will double your fps too.

And by ADK fix, you mean this? https://www.reddit.com/r/DeadSpace/comments/y3kxrl/does_anyone_know_how_to_fix_this_texture/
