Edit: I am so pleasantly surprised that so many people just wont accept these kind of treatments to existing characters and franchises. We've seen too much over the past 5 years. People are waking up. Maybe the term "woke" needs to be redefined.

You know that the original Kendra was voiced by a native person right ? And the fact she's a bit darker now, has more to do with the darker tone of the game.

And do people really have a problem that Johnston (the second security person) is a female that sounds and looks a bit like Vasquez (from aliens)? That's a good thing.

The includiverseity also count for the necromorphs, I don't think that would be considered healthy and positive by the hard line woke theorists. Because they'd always be able to turn it into something that white people invented.

It's just simply that a ship with over a 1000 crewmembers would be from multi ethnic backgrounds. That's not such a weird idea ?

Nicole in first DS looks like an anime 17 y/o while she's supposed to be a mature woman. Ofc they were going to change that, they changed it for DS2 too. I guess it's woke when women are depicted as humans lmao

Just when I thought Nicole would never be the subject of that sort of gatekeeping that the character of Tifa always has to undergo, being reduced to her breasts. Then they're too small, or too big. But nuance is always lost.

Nicole is 39 as she dies, she might now resemble her age a bit more than in the original, indeed.

I agree... "woke" stuff goes to far at some points. But if you start to force yourself to find something you think is "too woke", you are the exact same thing you try to boycot.

Nobody care if they change some characters that have not much to do with the story.
If they (lelt's say) change Iron Man (or isaac to stay on topic) to be a black woman just because they want to force diversity, that would be weird. But some random side charackter? I couldn't care less.

If I feel in the mood for Dead Space again I'll just get Callisto Protocol despite the reviews or Replay the first one. I have no need of "Remakes" that deface the Original, it's stupid and disrespectful on top.

Most of the Western AAA Gaming Industry is already creatively bankrupt, that's why they have to constantly do Remakes of old and proven titles that people actually played and liked in the first place, instead of new products that they don't want or buy. They have everything pre-built including characters, story and dialogue and all they need to do is have some respect for the Original and keep it as faithful as possible while bringing the Tech, usability and graphics up to speed, but they can't even do that. Because obviously their "ideas" are so much better than those of the Original developers making the franchise iconic in the first place, as if they weren't the reason they are doing a "Remake" instead of a new title.

I would like to know the reasons behind that change of Johnson. I mean, he alongside Chen were killed in the initial attack. My only guesses are that they wanted to have more female representation in the game but changing main characters isn't a good way to achieve that. So they picked a minor side character. Unfortunately, that character dies very early on which would then mean that the gender swap is absolutely pointless. So they enhanced the role of that character which means some of the major story parts need to be rewritten as well.

Man, I hope they don't make Hammond a baffon just to put the spotlight on this new Johnson.

It's a way to make you relate to the character more. Making her stay behind in the shuttle to wait for medical assistance that will never come, only to be attacked and converted. When Isaac arrivesback there, the leaper attacking and destroying ths ship will have more impact: rather than Kendra always screaming on the top of her lungs to direct the "drama.

They wanted to make her (Kendra) a bit more likable, relatable and not freak out with every thing happened. It's only now that I realise she had more of a "teenage girl in scary movies" trope going on in the original game. especially in the intro.

If this new Johnson died because she wasn't able to get out of the Kellion in time or she "sacrifices" herself for Isaac, this would be a typical B-Movie trope.
Remember if she stays at the Kellion she would have a radio link to the rest of the team, which means you would know if she gets attacked or not. So the surprise she gets transformed without anyone one knowing doesn't work.

My suggestions would be that she gets abducted by Mercer at some point and transformed into a Regenerator (of course you this is easier said than actually written).

Surprise surprise, I wish I had taken bets whether or not they have the balls to accurately remake Kendra's outfit. At least the modding community will. I don't understand what's with this blackwashing with these posters as well, just leave them the ♥♥♥♥ alone and make new posters if you so must have imaginary diversity points.
