If you look at your own reflection ingame (only possible with floors right now) you see a bald male placeholder sprite so there's likely never been a sprite of the first protag redesign.
I don't like crapping on the work of indie devs but if you look at the "original" character art it becomes fairly obvious that not much effort was put into that one. It basically equals to the devs saying "we want to have a female protagonist in the game" as a concept. That might not sound very original nowadays when every second boomer shooter is trying to stick out with the "look, it's a badass girl" concept but back when the idea for Supplice was born it was not an overused idea at all.
As to why the protag is black now, we don't know why and there can be a million reasons behind that decision including but not limited to what I was talking about: everybody's doing the generic white girl now. Ion Fury, Selaco, Nightmare Reaper, Viscerafest and a bunch of other retro shooters (Serious Sally lol, yeah, that actually exists) are all doing the white girl thing and most of them are even brunettes, there isn't even a redhead or a blonde in sight. It's kind of embarrassing even if the last thing you care about in a game like this is the character design.
Having a black lady is just cool in that context because yeah, it's not white brunette girl again and that adds a bit of variety. It can also be that the voice acting will be done by a black woman and they wanted the protagonist to match the voice, as I've said: it can be a million things.
By not buying their product im manifesting mine. Its so simple.
?? I dont even understand what you mean.
Because for a doom clone mod its f secondary and not mandatory, like reading all the books on skyrim. Besides, I didnt see anything weird or woke on the terminals at the moment...
Does anyone have a link or screenshot where it can be seen?
Have the developers given the reasons for the change?
It's not like words have meanings where they're concerned. There's no reason to pay attention to what they're saying, because words are wind. Pay attention to what they're communicating and what they're doing instead.
Is this the original design?
It doesn't seem that the change was for Woke reasons.
