Ancient Wars: Sparta Definitive Edition

Ancient Wars: Sparta Definitive Edition

My first impressions.
Picked up the game yesterday in a sale, I had not played it back in the day so I am coming into this all new.
For now I just played a few skirmish games against the easy AI with an infinite resources cheat so I can figure out how it all works and give each faction a try.
I'm not a multiplayer person for RTS games, I just play against the AI.

I've tried them all save for republican Rome so far.

Overall I really like the game, it does some different things that I really enjoy. Like ships and walls really being quite a thing, also equipping the soldiers and naming them.
Not having much resources to worry about works fine too.
Since I played with infinite resources it didn't matter but, Persians seem unable to build a granary so I am not quite sure how they work.

There are a few suggestions I have for what I'd like to see added to the game so far:

-Some nice maps that allow both land and sea attacks.
I feel this is really missing. Either you have to use ships to reach enemies or there's pretty much no water at all on the map. I'd like to see some more coastal maps where you can do both.

-More player colours.
Just a little visual thing, I know it won't affect gameplay but it adds some nice variety and further plays into that customising your own army aspect of the game.

-Armoured horses for Persia.
I'd like to see cataphracts, could also be nice to see a nation have two horse options. Oddly enough the Imperial Romans have armoured horses while no one else does. Not sure if there's a stats difference though.

-Less weapon options for Imperial Rome.
Maybe it was a bug, I only played them once but they had a crazy amount of weapons available for their troops. Like even shurikens.

-Fourth soldier option for each civ that's more unique to them.
Playing as Macedon made me think that the Amazon could have been a nice fourth option for them there, to equip with different weapons.
And I think maybe each civ could have a more unique fourth option for that.

Hi!
First, I appreciate that you have dedicated part of your time to provide feedback and suggestions to improve the game!

I liked your ideas, maps with land and sea attacks can be added, more colors for players too :)

Regarding horses, each horse of each civilization has different Stats, the Persian horse with armor may be added in the final version of the game.

Regarding the weapons available to Imperial Rome, surely you built its special building (Bellona temple) that spams weapons from the different civilizations around it from time to time and your workers collected them and that is why so many weapons appeared to equip the troops or sell them :)

A fourth special soldier available sounds good but it is something that I should study in depth, if I add it it would be in the final version of the game but I cannot guarantee it :S

If you have more suggestions or feedback in the future, don't hesitate to write to me ;)
