No assist - NEVER able to get a good launch
Race 17 and i still don't get it ! No matter where i have the revs, i am always super slow on the race start. How the hell are you supposed to get a good launch ? Never had this problem in F1 20 or 21.

EDIT: So on the EA forums, they were right - tire temps before the race start are now more important than before. Make sure you reach at least 82 degrees Celsius / 190 Fahrenheit and you will be good. Just had a race start at Suzuka that went pretty much perfectly !

I have the same problem! Two or three cars pass me every time.
Probably the only advice is to start on automatic:steambored:

same here

I tried getting as much heat into the tires as possible, having tires at 90 degrees at the start improved things, still feels off tho.

It's not easy. Low revs and almost instantly change to 2nd gear asap works best for me but you just seem to lose so many places the harder you try. I think it needs improving.

Revs at 11300 and as you hear the tires slipping for a tenth of a second then increase the throttle.
Its so hard to get right but thats the way esports guys do it..

I wonder if the esports game build, has launch control/traction control as standard for race starts. I think its a bit of a lottery in the standard game build.

Same result on automatic, in fact I found that it was worse.

On automatic i think it's worse bc you can't shift gears which helps.

I tested today with traction control set to max, still awful no matter what you do. Even with assists it is broken and unfair !

I agree it seems to be way more difficult then it should be but try this:

Reach your desired revs and try to keep the throttle perfectly still as long as possible. Usually through second gear and into third. Then slowly but steadily increase it. I get the best results with this. I had a tendency to twitch my foot when the lights went green. The slightest movement can wreck your start.

Overall I hate the behavior of third gear. The revs can suddenly spike without any reason or warning.

- Running more rear toe helps to stabilize the car on low downforce situations at the cost of turn-in-speed.
- higher throttle differential gives you more overall grip, but if you loose grip, it will come more sudden.
- Also rear suspension settings can have a great impact. If it's too hard, then you can easily overload the tyres, if it's too soft, then you might loose the ground effect.
- and a harder front suspension can ensure, that the wieght helps you more at the rear, when the weight shifts to the back due to accelerations

But ultimately i would rather recommend to build your setups around the whole race and not just the 5 seconds at the start. Usually, if you build rather extreme setups (like 0 Toe, 0 rear suspension and low differential, like some top players), then it's normally not that important to be fast early on, since you'll most likely get your places back quite fast and a few more on top of that somewhere else due to your better cornering speed

I'm just speculating that the esports game build has a totally different and better launch/traction control to the off/medium/full traction control settings in the game build us mortals are using.

For those who want the challenge of mastering what we have and/or think its realistic I say good luck. But this is meant to be a game to be enjoyed and I agree with TomLehockySVK in that the current settings are all not fit for use and make trying to get pole/or a good grid position pointless if you are nearly always going to go backwards at the start or worse still wreck the car. Shame as the rest of the game (minus F1 life) is great.

I received a reply here that maybe could answer why it feels worse compared to the previous games. Quote: "Note that the tyre temperatures in that video are on the cold side (76-79 °C), which will be a contributing factor. Tyre warm-up is a much bigger factor in this game than last year."

And i actually agree because when i retried the formation lap and had my tires to 86 degrees average for race start, i was able to get a launch into 2.nd place. I guess you have to absolutely abuse the tires on the formation lap and reach as close to 90 degrees Celsius / 194 Fahrenheitas or a bit above as possible.

I would rather speculate, that the best players of the world tend to be a littlebit better than the average players. I don't even see any reason for why you would even think, that they would change the game so drastically. Like how are they supposed to train properly for that, when they're most of the time playing the same game as anyone else?

I don't disagree and I was just posing the possibility. I tend to agree that Jarno, Lucas and co are just a cut above. But are they training/racing on the same game build for eSports? Maybe not?
