AI straight line speed OP?

Anyone else having issue with this? No matter what setup i use the AI have significant higher speeds on the straights than me, like 10-20 kph+ faster. I loose so much time on them but gain them in the corners, like i have a much higher downforce or something then the AI

you need good corner exits (early on the throttle) and abit overtake sometimes

Yeah i know that and have no problems with that but its like my top speed is significantly slower then the AI

AI in this year game is unraceable man, they don't even care about your racing line they just dive bomb and pretend that you didn't exist at all, and yes their straight line speed is somehow faster

What controller are you using? I had the same problem. I found that my pedals weren't calibrated in windows properly. The brakes were dragging LOL. Re-calibrated and it's fine now.

Yea what I've noticed is the AI just divebombs. The AI is also unnecessarily OP. I have my difficulty set at 89 playing on controller. It's a full wet 96% rain in Imola and Lando is lapped by everyone 25% into the race (because of 1st lap incident) so wing change and all that. I'm sitting P5 and 75% into the race, the race director screen shows he's still P22 but magically he's able to zoom past the other drivers behind me and tail me the entire time.

Meanwhile, on the last 8 laps of Imola, rain eases up and there's a safety car because of another incident. Everyone pits for softs and Perez is the only one still rocking 23 lap old Intermediates so he's P1. Safety car ends, yet nobody (Even the AI) on new softs are able to pass Perez and he's doing fastest lap after fastest laps until the race ends on those 23+ lap old intermediates.

I have to agree on the straight line speed. I tried several circuits with equal performance set on and the AI pull away even when I have DRS and overtake on. I can see the deltas change about 2 hundredths every tick in their favor. I've tried lowering the difficulty but it just makes the AI go through the corners super slow, it's painful following through a corner so slow to have them just take off. Could be a setup thing, but it just feels weird.

I have this problem too, I had assumed it was due to the 'My Team' car not being fully developed.

Having the exact same issue as OP. Thinking the same thing. Can anyone confirm this? I have AI on 40 and getting blown away coming out of corners and into the straights, even when i nail my line perfectly and back to full throttle as early as possible. So frustrating, but hopefully this will get better after a season or two and developing the car.

It does not get any better, i am in season 3 with a fully developed car that on the charts are far better then the AI cars. Yet they are much faster on the straights.
Does not matter what setup or what difficulty they are on. The speed they have is so OP

Well this is very discouraging lol. Almost makes me not want to play the game. Hopefully the patch this soon. Impossible to gain an edge out of corner for an overtake. Only way i can even get overtakes at the moment is just divebombing into corners and then usually end up taking damage lol

has anyone tried running really low rear wing, i just tried an equal performance race again at Bahrain with 8,8 wings and near max tire pressure and was actually able to make drs moves again. Also set the rear to 100% locked on throttle, it was twitchy, but they didn't get away at least.

Not at all. In Spain a Red Bull wasn't able to overtake me in a Mercedes at all. Even with DRS and Overtake etc. At some certain point I startet to pull away from him. All it takes is a good setup and a good corner exit. Nothing less :) AI was at 80 which is quite ok though

Are you serious? lol Not gonna lie im just getting into F1 and i miss alot of lines but i know when i nail one and have a good exit and i still get smoked. Will admit im a little lost on dialing in a setup but might try what the previous guy mentioned and turn rear wing down and turn up diff. Been using some setups found on steam. Any tips for dialing in my own setup?

I have AI on 50 midfield My team, and have been gradually inceasing. So far I havent had trouble overtaking on straights with DRS and ERS, and even if the AI in front also has DRS, I can overtake if i get a good exit.
i would even say the AI aren't that good out of some corners at all, esp the slower cars in my Team. But depends on the difficulty you've set it, i try to match good difficulty to make up for inconsistencies and mistakes during the race.
