[UPDATED] Quest2 / RTX VR Settings: Fix all problems
Hello, my first experience with F122 in VR was bad. Image was blurred, head movement was stuttering, I had many crashes. By tweaking some settings I was able to fix it all and turn F122 into one of best / most polished VR games ever made. period.

So, this post (continuously updated) is for everyone out there who is having the same issues. Please, DON'T GIVE UP and try to give it a shot, it's well worth.

My specs: Ryzen 5600X, RTX3080, Quest2.

Here we are with the settings, you need to change things in many places:

1) Oculus Quest 2: Disable AirLink so you can play with the Link cable (image quality is much better)
2) Oculus App: Set 72Hz refresh rate and automatic resolution (in my case it's 4128x2096)
3) Oculus Debug Tool (you can find this app in C:\Program Files\Oculus\Support\oculus-diagnostics): Set "PC Async Spacewarp" to Disabled. Under Oculus Link set "Encode Bitrate" to 400, "Link Sharpening" to Enabled, "Mobile ASW" to Enabled
4) Nvidia Control Panel: Set "VR prerendered frames" to "Application controlled"
5) Steam: Select F1 22 properties and deselect both "overlay" and "cinema mode", under "General"
6) Steam VR: In video options, put resolution to 100%. Also disable the controller add-on. I also disabled SteamVR home but I don't know if it makes a difference
7) F1 22 Graphics menu: Set gamma to 70 (much better colors). In the video settings, select Sharpening TAA + Fidelity as the Antialiasing method (best one by far), 16x Anysotropic filtering and set Dynamic resolution to "On" in "Balanced" mode with 50 as minimum resolution. Put screen resolution to 1920x1080. In the main page, select "Low" as the graphics preset
8) F1 22 VR Settings: Put resolution to 180. Also, some says it's better to turn off stencils

Start from here and adjust to your need / specs. In particular, you can reduce resolution in VR settings up to 100 and increase graphical setting to High or Very High (Very High is still pretty fluid for me but gives me crashes. High doesn't).

Good luck to all of you and have a great F1 time in VR!!! Go, Ferrari, go!!!

I'm on rtx 3080 and ryzen 5800x. Quest 2 w/ link cable. Also I'm playing on Origin.

I have managed to get the game running mostly ok and looking half decent, but there is still an issue with frame time spikes causing judder regardless of GPU headroom.

There is something fundamentally wrong with the VR implementation.

Might be we need a dedicated Oculus launch option that just uses the Oculus runtime and bypasses steamVR. Like every other racing sim with VR support.

as told thats something ive seen on pc of other users in our sim racing group. AMD GPUS work perfect in this case.. theres no difference to ams 2 or assetto corsa... A friend of mine with an Nvidia RTX owns the HP Reverb and the Quest 2. With his Nvidia the Reverb runs perfect in F1 22 VR, with the Quest its like in your case... theres allways some stutter and spike. We just can hope Nvidia, Oculus and Codesmaster fix this fast.
I agree, native Oculus Option would be perfect.

Yeah agreed, whether it's driver side or client side, something needs fixing.

This game is on par for me with ACC in terms of visuals and performance. AMS2 and PC2 look and perform amazingly well in VR. Madness engine just handles it very well.

Hi Rea, have you managed to test yet with the new patch? I hope to get on to play tomorrow. Thanks
Hi, I had some test drive with the new patch and I confirm my last settings. Actually, the patch did almost nothing for me in VR. I noticed same performances and same graphic quality. As many of you, I'm also waiting for native Oculus integration especially for ASW which is handled very badly and need to be disabled. Regarding Link Sharpening, I also don't notice any performance difference but the visual quality DESERVES it to be turned ON.

After days of tinkering the game runs and looks fine. it's just the broken headtracking . Anyone have any ideas?

As I said before, I think the developers will have to work on this. By now, I found only to ways to improve it:
1) Disable ASW in the Oculus Debug Tool
2) Keep Graphic Quality Low. Don't overestimate your PC horsepower, you have to be certain framerate will never drop below 72Hz. I'm running a 3080 and I'm keeping "Low" graphics and 180% VR resolution

ASW has been disabled ever since i bought the damn thing. running at 72hz at 1.3x using a 3070ti game running on very low using the quest 2's native res. like i mentioned... performance is fine it's just the headtracking and i've already done all these things, does not improve it

It's crazy how much better the game looks for me on VR Low compared to VR High. It's a blurry mess on high but really clear on Low

I have them all turned to on, or is there another setting that I wasn't aware of?

Get in track and check your settings again. There is a osd or hud customization menu. when inside if you double press A(controller) they grey boxes give the option of hidden or enabled. all elements (delta, grid, map, wrong way icon, practice programs, etc) are set by default to hidden. You need to enable them its one u want. If you still cant find it, search on youtube. its the same as it was in f1 21.

Everything the OP wrote, DOES NOT fix the jittering/shaking issue of the head tracking.
