Fortune's Run

Fortune's Run

Kick Jump
so my only really grip with the game was the kick jumping. At least at the time I played the demo it wasn't great and I really felt like it just wasn't it.

That was it though. The story, the environment, the style, all A+ stuff that made me think several people worked on this. I really just hope that kick jumping mechanic got fine tuned more. I played the demo when Alpha Beta Gamer made a blog post about it. Not sure how long ago that was.

<3

I've waited 10 years for a kickstarter so I can wait a little bit for this

Curious what your gripe was with it

It just didn't feel right. Me and another buddy tried it and had similar issues. I've played plenty of movement games and I wouldn't say I'm a pro in any sort of the word but I would say I'm good at most games generally but this just wasn't clicking.

It was a really old build so that really could have been it. I do feel like it being in the game was good, it just felt off. I wasn't able to get it consistently how the game wanted it so I felt like it was a mechanic I really wasn't able to use.

Perhaps I needed more practice or like I said perhaps it's already been fixed and I just don't know it yet but in the tutorial area it was rough to get it consistently and smoothly how the game presented it.

I don't even know what you mean by kick jumping and how you think it's supposed to work. The mid-air kick is an overhead attack. How is it supposed to work?

Do you mean wall-jumping?

Yes, Wall Jumping, that. Sorry its been awhile since I played the demo. It just felt like I wasn't connecting and moving upwards like the tutorial was presenting me to do. Again it's been awhile but that was the only turn off I had when playing which is why I still wishlisted because I wanted to play more.

EDIT: I checked when Alpha Beta Gamer posted about it. It was the alpha they posted back in 2022.

Ah. Okay, so, the directional keys AND the camera direction matter.

Type this in console: "map map_aitest"

then jump around for a bit. You'll get the hang of it. It's a bit tricky. Think of it like it's movement tech. You need to learn it then it feels natural.

Would it be possible to have a "pull up"(with two hands) when pressing up near an edge? instead of just hovering up the way it is now. J
Just so to lock out left and right movement when actually wanting to go straight up a specific part of a new plane but one which you jump at a angle.

Is it possible to hang on a ceiling or beam later?

Is there a "lock on" mechanic for meele?
I feel like I am drifting between enemies with a lot of my kicks and punches lost in thin air because my main body will move/turn/strafe twice as fast as these actually execute/extend.
It would make it more fun. Me thinks.

Kind regards.

No. We are doing Quake/HL style movement! It's a different kind of thing.

Either press crouch when near a ledge or turn on EZ Jump and it'll do it automatically.

Yes, there's a small amount of lockon when you hit enemies.

Aha aha. Thank you for that clarification. Could there be a slider for the lockon amount?
