You can get the game on either platform, it makes no difference to us. Both take the same cut of profit, 30%. We also update both simultaneously more or less. Also, according to Valve's rules, we cannot actually recommend you to purchase the game on another platform while on the Steam forums. Did you know that?
If your interest is primarily in the story you may want to wait. We are trying to release content in canonical order so that nothing gets spoiled as you play, though. The demo being in the middle of the story seems to be an exception, but we did this on purpose to get people thinking about some of the elements of the story which will get explored in more detail later ;D
That being said, time constraints being what they are, there is already some story stuff that we will be retroactively adding to the content already out, and the next update will probably be missing some dialogue on first launch. So, ultimately, if you really care about the story, you might want to wait. I want you to know however that you may be waiting for a while; we don't want to drop this project any time soon and we have at minimum two more years of content to create. So, it's up to you!
About multiplayer, the main reason why we are adding multiplayer features is that we want connectivity as an engine feature in order to be able to do other things down the line. So, since we're adding netcode, we figured the best way to make that relevant before we work out the other things would be to put in a coop mode. However, we are working some tight deadlines, so we've decided to postpone all development of networking features until we finish making the singleplayer game. There is already an outline of the feature in the game today actually, but we've just suspended updating it since it might make it harder to reach deadlines.
Examples of things we'd like to do with connectivity in the future is a special arena you can walk into in the hub which connects you into a duel or assassination side-missions where you take on other players in their singleplayer missions. We still don't know if we're ever going to actually do these things, the first step is obviously just getting two players in the same map, then after that we'll experiment.
That's it!
Story is intriguing but sparse, although I could be wrong I stopped watching early in lvl 1 to keep things fresh. One suggestion is I noticed how difficult the font is to read on the PDAs. The words are too squiggly, please improve. As a 0451 fan I'm also wishing for some silent takedown options.
I'll grab it with the next update, a rough 50% of the content is a good point to get in.
-Thrown bottle to the head
-Thrown knife to the head
-Melee strike to the head from behind (easiest way to achieve this is a dropkick)
-Back grab and choke
-Grab and throw off ledge
We also just recently added a new silent weapon for the next map.
This is a feature that we've put off for a while and I just thought of an way to implement it without modifying any of the game code. So there it is!
