So lemme get this right... for ~$1 you can outright purchase any specific item? The inclusion of this is tacky to me regardless but if it turns out to be yet another Gacha, gross.

You didn't know? Yes, it's a gacha game. Unlocking everything normally will take a very long time.

Although you can probably just use Cheat Engine with the PC version, unless there are server side checks.

I did know - heck, I got the Platinum for V3 on PS4. I'm well acquainted with its source material. Wanted to clarify whether it was a tacked on gamble or simply a way to circumvent luck and speed your way to unlocking a favorite character.

Well I kind of like this idea of the vending machine I can buy my four favourite U card characters in one go then urn the rest the old fashioned way that way I can conquer the monokuma tower easily (well I think).

I feel it's far more the latter. Some folks absolutely loathe gacha mechanics at any level. If that's you, you'll probably despise their presence here too :-) However, if you don't mind grinding, I think you can have a pretty good time without ever spending anything more than the game's base price.
