i am sorry to say but the game feels like it has no soul.
it just another battle royale but with ''mechs''
oh no its the early access excuse again...
And that is exactly why it will never make it out of early access...
its those fights were you actually need to think a bit that are the best.
or when people actually know how to play the game and you get like 5 teams on extract when the game really shines.
for lack of direction idk maybe this will help.
-basic game loop is fight for the first pod it gives you a line too it you want to kill drones on the way and at least hit lvl 2. then fight the opposing team. you dont need to wipe them out or chase them your goal is the drop pod.
once you secure the pod after pushing the opposing players away or killing them which is more likely as not many know how to back off you open the map with M and go to a hunting ground.
if your the team that lost as in you either dont have control of the pod drop area and they get the items or one of you is dead or you both dont have the hp to contest just back off and find a hunting ground to reset or you may just have to scavenge off scout drones if the hunting grounds are contested.
the grounds is also the best way to get loot boxes for items so im sure once people catch onto that they will become more contested.
-you can also do the other side objective for the colossus which is either getting a key to a lvl 4 drop pod that marks you on the map for all to see and only the key holder can see where the pod is (but its not too hard to guess if you see where they are when they grab the key). you might not start with the key and will have to go after said player.
or collecting player tags and after getting so many you can call in a lvl 4 drop pod or hunting a marked bounty player/ surviving being hunted for a lvl 4 drop pod if you kill your target or kill your hunters in the time frame.
-then after that extract should appear its supposed to be the final battle with all surviving teams fighting for it with one team probably having a colossus you gotta watch for. or you could just go farm drones until the game is over for bits of extra hunter xp and just end up surviving at least for a smaller bonus
and thats the basic form the matches take or at least thats how i try and go about it.
but the game doesnt usually go this way cause literally everybody dies in the first 2 min 7/10 times and its always just a dual at the end or even before the second phase is up
which is the weakest part of the game. the whole not enough fights part.
idk how the devs plan to fix this issue with the current mode. maybe its just up to time for players to figure it out and stop fighting for the first pod like their life depends on it.
i will say this game loop is also much to be desired. theres not much to do outside of the first and last fight besides fighting for the colossus kit however it may chose to appear. its why in the survey i suggested redoing the entire main mode.
making the main and only mode limited to 2 player teams in early access without 3v3v3v3 or 4v4v4 is beyond me or even just having a basic tdm
Main mistake i see many players do is to just stand like statue in front of the enemy team and getting killed instead to move and use the surroundings for cover.
I brought it up during the beta test as well when I first heard about it (by accident).
I could not name any battle royale x moba game which stood alive after its release.
It is as bold move to try to break into that dying genre.
Surely it would be cool if there was a game which stays alive cuz it "shines" in that genre, using this mix so well the game experience feels perfect.
But so far this game will be yet another attempt without bringing anything new to the table.
I hope I would be wrong. But I would be surprised if the game got the drastic changes it would need to "shine".
I thought there would be more to the game, the duo system is not apealing. Try 8 vs 8 and see how cool it would be
Titanfall 2 spoiled every other mech game for me.
They're your A-typical projectiles, where are the laser weapons/beams? The weapons feel like a toy rather than a lethal weapon. My point is and what I'm trying to point out here, since you asked, visual effects need more depth and so do the weapons. We need to see and feel like these weapons are actually shooting. And if it's any relevance, burst-fire? Really? Nobody like's burst-fire.
And while I have your attention I want to emphasize my dislike for the UI. You're trailers looked awesome, the game looked awesome and it was capturing. You want to know why? Because you had no UI in your trailers. I've said it before and I'll say it again, you guys should think about integrating the UI so it's ingrained in the game like the Dead Space games.
And last but not least, the hook(Gameplay), needs probably the most focus. I don't know what you can do to make or keep bringing players back to want to play your game. But this battle royal fighting for a semi-extraction and upgrading the bot as the intensive, is not it. Maybe you can make the game more flashy or fast pace but it's not even on the radar for most players right now, I'm sure of it.
But these are just small personal issue, I'm sure everyone has their criticisms as well and they probably have better points than mine. And they probably have more hours than I do, I have only 61 minutes in-game so take my opinion with a grain of salt. Thank you for your time, I appreciate you.
