Its basicly the whole game,
Spawn in game, race on buffs and xp, defeat the competing players.
Maybe you need more straight foward games like call of duty so you can fully focus on players
Actually OP is right for the reasons he has written above.
The games are very short and leveling also does not feel impactful enough to be a valid aspect of the game.
You literally get only 1 more ability, all the rest of leveling is just stat boost. Just the gear you pick up. Aka, dull and generic.
In League of Legends, leveling is a longer aspect of the game, where you also decide which ability to strengthen every-single-time you level up. Therefore you have direct impact about a part of you leveling up, unlike in Steel Hunters, where it is kinda non-existent.
Also, leveling, dying and respawning is different than leveling and just dying.
Steel Hunters does not even provide you the thrill of looting, as all you get are better stat boosts without any variations, aka, colorful shapes on the ground, that's that.
So this game takes aspects from other genres, and utilizes their signature mechanics the worse way possible.
MOBA:
You have barely anything to kill.
Leveling gives 1 ability and passive stat boosts.
Where is the player versus environment aspect that way? It is hardly a PvE when you kill like 6 floating drones over the full duration of your game.
---
Battle Royale:
You loot colorful shapes without any variety.
Your loot is not scattered over the map, they spawn at specific spawner points.
Why bother with looting if loot is something you only can pick up if better than you already have? The whole loot system is unnecessary that way. There is no variation, no impact what to use since there are no choices (except for items, which there are 3 of them...). You could just get those "items" right away to your "inventory", it would just save you 3 seconds of "looting".
---
And what is it missing? Well, everything?
There is no real fight to environment
no farming to level up,
no reward for leveling up,
no decision making about trying to kill an enemy or better get a level first (as there are no mobs to farm if you were in need of leveling)
There is no map with loot for you to find
There is no variation in gear, it is just passive stat boost which is the same as you leveling up, bland
There is no exploration aspect, the thrill of roaming, excitement to find a cool stuff
Killing others do not make you excited to loot their remains, as there are only colorful shapes with... passive stat boosts, and you already know it
This game is missing the sPiCeS, it is so BlAnD!
Every way to grant a level in league is skill based. You kill a minion? You get X xp. Someone else kills a minion? They get X xp.
Here, Wargaming demands that skill mean nothing. So here, you kill a minion? You get a 25% damage booster. Someone else kills a minion? They get a 4% damage booster. BALANCED.
Same thing with "xp". One player gets 1000 energy, another gets 6000 energy.
Comparing this to league is insane.
