Lol, rational people would know that you can't necessarily control what things "live in your head," if you really want to get into a debate about how rational people behave.
While I am admittedly closer to the second category (not being a lifelong fan of either the real sport or the more professional video games of the sport), I like to think I'm ultimately in a third category. People who recognize the game is trash, but still play it because, what the heck, it's free.
I had an incident in a game yesterday where the CPU team was backed up against their own goal line, so I did a blitz trying to get a safety. My guys brought the quarterback down, but he threw it away just in time. In a proper football video game, that would obviously just be not a safety, no big deal. But here, I could almost see the game's logic circuits start to smoke as they struggled to figure out how they should handle it. What ended up happening was that the game gave my team 6 points, then had the CPU team try for a two-point conversion before kicking off to me. 🤣 Wrong on all counts! But kinda hilarious, if you go in expecting the game to be a buggy mess that isn't particularly good at accurately following the rules of real football.
I would never spend a dime on this game as long as stuff like that keeps happening, but I also don't feel very motivated to write a negative review. I feel like the value of a negative review is to warn people away from wasting their money on a game, but people can play this game for free and see for themselves before deciding whether to spend money on it or not.
