Favorite Area not working?

I am setting the heroes to auto rebirth with their favorite area set to the area I am currently targeting. I make sure they can clear it fine after rebirthing. I check on them a couple minutes later and they are stuck at slime 1. This is always the ones in passive/background mode. Not the active.

Make sure the favorite area is set for each character (it is individual) and that neither best exp nor lazy questing are enabled for them either.

Lazy questing works for them no problem. I've been using it for weeks and they return to favorite area after the quests are done. Also I know its individual. I even use the Shift click function to mass assign favorite pretty frequently.

Mine works as expected (I am currently farming all areas one by one to get fiddiculty 10 unlocked on all), which is why I pointed out parts that could be interfering.
Not sure why yours doesn't then.

WA clears favorite areas. Other than that, no idea what's happening.

Not exactly the same, but had problems with auto rebirth on fav area. Game restart helped.
