There is a quest that gives you one, but it's not a quest you can farm at a rapid speed.
Levelling the cartographer to 80 (current cap without bonuses) allows you to get quite a few extra orbs per quest (and 4 quests from the building's rank) as well.
Last but not least are swarms, there is a portal orb to be gained from them, but to get a high enough score you pretty much need to have spent enough time in your current WA to raise the difficulty of areas more than just a couple levels.
Also, while it doesn't give you orbs, remember that you can reset the suepr dungeon's entry cost as well as decrease the entry cost of normal dungeons (through prestige points) to conserve your orbs a bit.
Best to get Cartographer town building as high as you can, as you get 60+ a day from that.
Journey of a thousand miles (100 purple foxes) requires rank 5 trapper (GL100 for rank 5 statue needed). Then it's farmable. Higher capturing numbers (double/triple capture), more traps (shop timer reduction, a rank 4 slime bank upgrade) and tune of total taming (with 100% capture chance, 20k levels) all make it faster. Especially with base lv 100+ and high aoe, it can clear the quest with 1 trigger. 500 portal orbs/hour is the beginning, it can get into thousands, over 10k with 4 characters later.
The biggerest one is actually very useful in the very late game (I didn't believe it at first, but I got a setup for it later). With total pet rank 5000 to 6000 and a gear loadout for farming the needed materials, it becomes permanently sustainable at full rebirth speed (faster than journey, not relying on foxes). Close to maxed stats (pet rank 7500+, lv 100 material mist, 100k+% equipment effect, etc.), the cost becomes spare change and it's always on (favorited). Both these quests can be done at once (especially when 1 trap can clear journey, tune doesn't have the time to trigger at maxed clearing speed).
1B material quest is super fast, but you need very high equipment effect and potion effect (from high level pet milestone, high level expedition milestone, great talisman passive effect...), do not forget the material drop multiplier from slime coin shop page 3.
Usually the fox quest are better unless you can get trillions material, I suggest to start this quest with at least e15 material, and this is doable, I have e19 material and 40 million portal orbs in the late game.
Granted, those quests require a whole thousand captures so they are not quick but they give more than enough purple traps to be worth it early-ish.
I personally never cared for portal orbs, maybe I will soon but I ended up having over 7k of those by playing however I liked (most likely not efficiently but having fun with it anyway).
But in the very late game, even this isn't enough - 0.1s cast speed skills clear the area (and cause rebirth + another biggerest one clear) before tune (0.25s cast time) can be triggered. This is covered by traps - when 1 trap is enough to clear journey, you rebirth at max speed for biggerest one and use traps for journey, tune is afaik slower then (slows down biggerest one, maybe even journey).
I don't consider trapping green fairies/foxes viable for portal orb farming. It's way too slow. It's good for getting purple pets before rank 5 trapper though.
more portal orbs just means slightly more SD entrys, +20% orb production may gives me only +1 entry per ticket. and 1 trap complete is hard (also need some super guild tame ability and trapper talisman equipped).
The problem with tune is that in the endgame, it is slow too (waiting for its trigger means not getting biggerest one triggered). If you have results screen (passives have it), that 1s is fine, if you don't, the 0.25s tune cast time is too long.
It isn't a gamechanger. Reliable journey quest (500+ portal orbs per ingame hour) alone can get quite far. But 50k orbs per hour is 50k (and possibly 1k SD runs per day) and I like bigger numbers.
Just one game update with buff can get bigger numbers with ease, I won't put much effort now...
Would you mind explaining how to do that, please?
