Importing save file issue

I discovered this game on browser, decided I want to support but can only do on steam. When I try to import my exported file the game just freezes, even leaving it for hours it does not unfreeze, and never imports. Is this a bug or am I doing something wrong? Don't want to restart and lose a bunch of progress.

If the gsme is different, saves probably wont be compatible.
