enemies see me in pitch darkness

[Dweller Beyond the Threshold]

I'm playing on the tanker mission, I destroyed all the lights within 50m of me, without NVG, it's pitch black and I cannot see anything and I should be completely surrounded by darkness. However, someone apparently saw me crouch-walking and shot me.

How? Do enemies have NVGs or something?

The AI is currently having issues, with seeing players in the dark.

Two things to highlight:

1) Make sure you setup NEW MOON in the mission settings (otherwise it isn't pitchblack)

2) If you shoot at light, AI - if it hears you or sees the muzzleflash - will of course search for you - in this case, sometimes, they will stay in some sort of awareness mode that might cut through the darkness somehow - try to change position fast after each shot (in the video I didn't xD) --> https://youtu.be/NOvo16Untwc?t=420

You can clearly see that AI, even in pitchblack, somehow smells you (AI switches into awareness), so don't get too close. --> https://youtu.be/NOvo16Untwc?t=348

When I shoot them, there's another AI (5 m to the left, behind the box on the deck), you can briefly see for a second, that's the one shooting me when I shoot out the lights later

You could try a wipe (incl. appdata), sometimes it works.

Yeah that's the issue it only works sometimes.

Next best thing would be to tinker with custom AI settings, trial and error.

I nerfed them in half and it's really enjoyable here and there - but atm my Veteran AI aren't really difficult at all - not sure if that's intentional ... maybe I got the other end of the bug.

hey i see you in the sandstorm community talking about ISMC, so while i have you here, do you mind telling me if you use project arbusto? that mod always shows up as incompatible in mod.io menu and wont be installed. i have already removed the OG ISMC and reinstalled the game but nothing changed.

I play them on vet difficulty which is more enjoyable, but only if the AI are not broken will hacks lol.
