People who saw Arma Reforger and assumed 1+1=3
Personally hoping a civilian version of TitanIM gets released, lord knows Bohemia needs the competition
I do need to hunt down a copy of The Regiment, though.
I did find it on the archive website, i'll share the link here assuming it's allowed since the copyright is no longer an issue and whatnot.
https://archive.org/details/the-regiment-2006
(Disclaimer: i haven't tried the download yet as i haven't been on my pc, but archive.org has been a reliable source for "outdated" games in the past so i'll vouch for it)
Other than that you could try hunting down a retail copy but afaik they're so rare they might be a collectors item, priced accordingly.
Sniper Ghost Warrior: Contracts 1+2
I know what youre thinking but Ci Games really got their heads out of their butts with the last two entries, atleast in my opinion. While it still has some of that trademark slav-jank, it punches quite a bit above its weight. May not be as realistic as GB, ARMA and co. but it can be surprisingly hardcore, especially at higher difficulty levels.
Player is no unkillable hero, no regenerating health (carryable medkits only) and enemies are no bulletsponges either. Which results in intense Gunfights when sh*t hits the fan and you have to go loud on closer distances.
The main Focus is obviously the sniping, which is pretty damn satisfying. All assists HUD can be turned off, distance must be set on the scope on the fly and wind is also a factor on longer distances.
Decently optimized as well and runs on the Cryengine (yep, the one from the crysis series), so its reasonably good looking at times.

While i probably would not recommend em at full price, currently they can be had for less than 6 Bucks each, or even both together for 9$. Cosmetic DLCs can be safely ignored, plenty of nice looking Weapon Camos for every biome already in the base game.
Not trying to shill for the game, i merely noticed, that it seems to fly pretty low under the radar for most military shooter fans. Figured it could be a good fit to throw into this thread.
TLDR: If poppin a couple heads with a suppressed .308 while trying to solo operate (non-mandatory stealth) in open levels sounds like fun to you, check it out, at that price its a steal.
Unrelated side note:
Glad to see im not the only one that totally missed "The Regiment", looks like good old Rainbow Six on speed, haha, seems fun.
Anyhow, in this case, id recommend to you Insurgency and its Sequel Sandstorm, Insurgents are a playable faction there. Wether its a trusty old mosin nagant, an I.E.D, all the way to RPG, the choice is yours.
It feels like when your being shot at the game stuns you where you can't react. Maybe its as design, but I can't stand not able to shoot back when shot at!
I cant really speak much about sandstorms PVP anyway, for that i prefer the first Insurgency (well technically the second one if you count the mod) and was fairly into its PVP back then and i wasnt even half bad, skirmish was my jam.
But as my reflexes aged alongside me (Holy crap 2013 was over 10 years ago!), i started to prefer my enemies to be of the artificial kind, so hence all of my playtime in sandstorm is singleplayer PVE (no leveling up or cosmetic points for me, LoL).
Still i got my moneys worth of fun out of it. I always considered it a "sim-cade" title and thats actually why i like it, the same hardcore-ness (is that even a word?) as simulators but without the clunkyness that usually goes along with it.
Either way, im still pretty sad, that New World interactive has been shut down, kinda blows.
But this is getting wildly off-topic. I came to recommend some offbeat military shooters and stayed to keep my eyes peeled for some more i might have missed.
I did reinstall it today so I can see if the problem is fixed or not!
This might be far fetched but "Hidden and dangerous 2" is a big recommend from my part, it's set in WW2 so probably not what you're initially looking for, but it really ticks the "commando" feel like no other, which might just scratch your operator itch.
It's old, but it still holds up very well to date imo.

Another bit of a reach; "Caliber", a russian free to play 4 player Pve/pvp third person "tactical" shooter.
It's a lot more arcady with skills and perks like rainbow six siege, but the gunplay is surprisingly fun with fairly challenging time to kill, it's on steam so it might be worth a shot.

Last but not least, and i'm assuming you know this one already since it's the title of your post, but "operator" seems to be a lower budget "wannabe" Ground Branch.

I haven't personally tried it as people seem to say the AI is beyond broken/braindead atm (as is an issue with most tactical shooters), but the gunplay and animations look pretty good.
I put "wannabe" in quotes because i don't mean it as an insult, what they've put down so far is really impressive, i'm just implying it looks like it's taking inspiration from GB
Look at the second trailer and you'll see the similarities with GB
You can find H&D1 Deluxe free online if you search. It was released free in the lead up to 2. Kill them Gnatzees good.
Also worth mentioning is that H&D2 feels a lot like the original Ghost Recon, but set in WW2 with more mechanics.
I think some of the devs from the original GR and rainbow six are in blackfoot studios, so it holds some similarities i guess.
So because I don;t like a game I am trash player, and your calling a 4000 dollar PC a potato what are you an idiot. I just tried the game again its your typical run and gun COD game. There is nothing tactical at all about the game. It has pretty graphics but so what!
Comedy that your praising the game and bashing me, yet their own company closed and stopped supporting your precious game!
Why are you even in this game forum, since you think Sandstorm is the same game-play as this game?
