Not a fan of those games but hats off to your recommendation, it might just click for OP and it does kinda fit the operator vibe.

This might be far fetched but "Hidden and dangerous 2" is a big recommend from my part, it's set in WW2 so probably not what you're initially looking for, but it really ticks the "commando" feel like no other, which might just scratch your operator itch.
It's old, but it still holds up very well to date imo.

Another bit of a reach; "Caliber", a russian free to play 4 player Pve/pvp third person "tactical" shooter.
It's a lot more arcady with skills and perks like rainbow six siege, but the gunplay is surprisingly fun with fairly challenging time to kill, it's on steam so it might be worth a shot.

Last but not least, and i'm assuming you know this one already since it's the title of your post, but "operator" seems to be a lower budget "wannabe" Ground Branch.

I haven't personally tried it as people seem to say the AI is beyond broken/braindead atm (as is an issue with most tactical shooters), but the gunplay and animations look pretty good.
I put "wannabe" in quotes because i don't mean it as an insult, what they've put down so far is really impressive, i'm just implying it looks like it's taking inspiration from GB
Look at the second trailer and you'll see the similarities with GB

How far back are you willing to go? I assume you've played things like Ghost Recon, Swat 4, Rainbow Six etc?

"The Regiment" from Konami is good for some tactical singleplayer fun. (has coop too but hard to find players, lol)
Lets you play some SAS counter terrorist missions with team control functions similar to that in RavenShield.
It also includes the famous Iranian Embassy Siege.
Training missions are also cool. You get instructed by the SAS vet John McAleese :D

Whats ravenshield?
Depends, is it the Just Another Army Boy shooter you are looking at. Or the tactical gun play? Or does the teamplay what you enjoy most

There's a difference between six days in Fallujah and SCP 5k
Arma 3 and GTFO

Another game i can recommend you now ;)
rainbow six: raven shield
You can buy it on steam, people still play coop. And SP is awesome.

Might want to join us on Tactical Gaming Network if you are looking for other players. Or if you need help! All kinds of tactical shooters are played there btw.
The Steam group is visible in my steam profile and there you can find the TGN-Discord too.

Going to give a list of things might be worth looking into, keeping it mostly single player for just now or should say things that can be enjoyed in single player mostly. No doubt others will have stuff to contribute to this list.

So not entirely similar but would class in similar genre:

Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six 3
Ghost Recon Advanced Warfighter (PC Version) Quite an underrated title honestly but kind of hard to get hold of these days
SWAT 4

Then what might feel a bit dated but worth a try:

SWAT 3
Ghost Recon
Rainbow Six

If you fancy something a bit more open then:

Brothers in Arms - start with Road to Hill 30 then Earned in Blood and then if you like a bit more arcadey, Hell's Highway

Then for even more open but also quite dated and also quite clunky

Operation Flashpoint / ARMA: Cold War Assault Old but unlike later ARMA games the AI is actually functional and it has a good single player experience

If looking for more arcadey then:
Delta Force: Black Hawk Down Even if it has one of the most advanced projectile systems ever fitted to a game which blows all the above out the water, which is disabled by default

If looking for more multiplayer, co-op or pvp, or even willing to entertain things like third person tactical shooters then can add more suggestions.

But SDF does not have PvP, its only a Coop game.
He didn't say he wanted PvP. These games at their core are PvE.

No, but he was looking for a game like this and this can't be a game that does not offer PvP.

They are PvE at their core because developers barely did anything to promote or perfectionise PvP, lol. These games are initially better made for PvP as this is where the full potential shines, when one challenges other players in a complex and tense tactical scenario, overwhelming the opponent team with sheer brain and reaction.

Shooting up gold-fish brained AI isn't really what games like this are about for me.

Nothing is more immersive than PvP with a proper team.
How do you know he wants PvP? As I said, these are PvE games and a few offer PvP.

There is Red Orchestra 2 as well. The Stalingrad setting is awesome.

what are you talking about Rainbow Six to Vegas 2 were very pvp focused!

You fail to understand my point completely and escalate into an argument. I merely said that you need to come up with a game that offers the same features as GB and missing PvP seems like a deal breaker to me.

If he is only in for PvE, then it might work for him, but you don't know that.

Its just common sense. Why make a big deal out of it ?
You talk in circles and have no clue about these games or you are a fringe PvP only. No more wasting my time with you.
