Is it just me or is the MP7 absolutely under powered?
It takes like 3 maybe 4 shots to kill. Other SMGs like the MP5 and MPX seem to kill in 2 to 3 ish shots. The lower recoil and shorter barrels SMGs have don't seem worth the better caliber the MK18 has.

For now.

Nobody -- player or tango -- is modeled as getting any protection from body armor of any kind, so the main purpose of the MP7 and 4.6x30 isn't really there. It's planned ( https://trello.com/c/v7hazFpf/182-armor-system ) but isn't there yet. Once that *is* in, then there may be advantages to taking the MP7 vs. MPX, say.

The MK18 will still be a very appealing option if you're willing to accept greater length and weight, and less ammunition per magazine.

Was recently "fixed" to use its own ammunition, rather then the 7.62x51mm it was set to for some reason.
I just grabbed rough values for the 4.6x30mm round from a quick search to get it in and working.

People have volunteered to help replace it all with far more accurate data.
Just haven't got around to it.
One of those things :(

MP7 is definitely weak as of right now, and it's probably the only SMG I'd run in auto. That being said, I don't think it should be changed for the following reasons:

-It's going to be the lightest primary in the game
-It's going to be the most compact primary in the game
-Low recoil
-It will perform better against armor compared to other SMGs
-You can carry a lot of ammo for it (granted, the ammo economy is poor. Most assault rifles will give you 15-30 kills per magazine, whearas the MP7 will give you 13-10, assuming every round hits the torso of an enemy)

I doubt the MP7 will be a 'meta' weapon. To my understanding, it's not often used as a primary by Special Ops units and is normally regulated to specialist rolls such as dog handlers, EOD and the such.

In the future, I can see the MP7 having the following rolls:

-Lightweight weapon for breachers/medics who are carrying extra kit but want to keep up with their team
-Somewhat as an improv squad automatic weapon that can still perform in CQB compared to a belt fed
-Maybe being needed if a player has to bring minimalist kit into a country for a super-duper secret op. (Of course, I'm not sure what's planned for the campaign, so that's pure speculation.)

MP7 WAS very op. ultra small, ultra light, 7.62x51 power, basically you don't need any other gun.
Now it is more realistic, or at least not overpowering every other weapon.

By the time Armor gets sorted out properly the MP7 will be pretty meh as an option against it. Against soft targets it performs excellently but not so much against armor. Even if you get the good stuff like SS190 to run through it you're still gonna struggle against a rifle rated armor.

Well it's excellent against armor "For a SMG/PDW", it never intended to outclass a rifle.

I could give it shotgun shells if people are upset about it?

MP7 design intent was to defeat soft body armor/flak jackets of the 90's. The fact that hard plate III+/IV is readily available on civilian markets/surplus a mitigating factor for the MP7, but it's velocity is still above the 2200fps+ terminal range to over pressure blood vessels/valves/organs.

It's a niche weapon with flexible ammo options that PC (pistol caliber) PDW/SMG just don't have, imo.

I finally got around to using one; I see what you mean, now. I was averaging 3-4 hits per kill, usually closer to 4 when I checked the stats. All of the kills were CQC, too (a bunch of them were about 4 - 5m away, being charged on the arena map.) Most of the shots seemed to be in the torso/chest. With an M4, it was 1 or 2 hits per kill. I guess you need to go for headshots.

Oh, and the recoil didn't seem very small (as someone claimed.)
