GROUND BRANCH

GROUND BRANCH

Incremental crouching
a lot of the cover in this game doesn't actually work very well because it is either slightly too short or too tall, are there any plans to fix this like arma's incremental crouching or multiple stances, or having the player just adjust to whatever they hide behind

We've had support in there for fluid/incremental crouch/lean for ages without any mechanism to use it.

Since the input change, we're in a better position to support this in a style similar to EFT.
Modifier key + mouse wheel.

So I can honestly say Soon ™ and mean it.

You can use a shorter weapon to adjust.

What? How does that work? If your barrel is going to hit, you won't be able to aim over cover, if the gun is short the barrel won't collide, but your round will. This is not an issue of a gun being long, it's cover not matching your stance so it's either not able to be shot over, or you are too exposed when shooting over it.

Yes, agreed, this is pretty annoying! :( Also you can't get up on some objects of the visually same height it seems. Like some of these objects when you spawn the south entry of the powerplant map.

It would be awesome if we could get some control via mouse wheel scrolling on how far down or up we want to move our virtual body.

Agreed, something similar to escape from tarkov would be awesome in this game.

True, tested again. Well, hope devs will consider it.
The author of this thread has indicated that this post answers the original topic.

So awesome to hear! I honestly prefer the "Tarkov" approach to this vs the "Arma" approach.

ARMA's system is ok actually. Clunky, but it does work better than Tarkov's stances for shoot. Example in Tarkov. You have leaning, and the stepping to the side. Now, try to step to the side and then aim. Something you may have to do, due to how close you may be to cover. You can't. You have to hold the ironsight button, then the key combo to step, but, because your gun was raised cause of cover, you will not be aiming. Issues like this exist due to so many combo keys in Tarkov.
Now for just plain ol stance adjustment up and down, Tarkov is on point.

That is a good point, I do like how in arma you have positional options for standing, crouching, and prone. I personally love being able to sit on my butt and shoot, it feels immersive and real in arma because of the encumberence model and setting, carrying a hundred pound ruck on a long combat patrol, you bet I would be sitting on my butt while scanning terrain with my rifle however with ground branch, the setting is more high speed low drag so it will be interesting to see how they implement it. Whatever they come up with I'm sure it will have alot of thought behind it.

Urban prone. Enough said.

Using a modifier key + wasd like in arma would free up the q and e keys for other functions though
Ahroovi Sep 5, 2018 @ 8:55pm
As long as it doesn't conflict like Tarkovs does with the stepping/aiming thing, I'm fine with it. Though using modifier keys to do things like step and all that, is a lot more clunky. Realistically you'd just sidestep, shoot a bit, pop back into cover. But in Arma you have to navigate to the edge of cover, hold two keys to step out, start shooting a bit, run back awkwardly behind cover, then stance change back to the middle stance. It's clunky, janky, unnecessary. And in Tarkov, well, you just can't aim when you need to with sidestepping.

devs don't waste your time with this please, we have other things that need to get done in order for this game to move forward.
Urban prone can be useful. I guess you haven't played the game at all. There are maps on there with longer sight lines and outdoor areas. And getting up and down from prone is quick and easy if you're only in a vest like these guys.
They already have a lean button, so it'd make sense that leaning when prone when make you go into urban prone. They ALREADY have prone planned, and the buttons ingame for it. I suppose going prone is useless then? Don't waste time on that either? By the time you get off your stomach your team will be dead.
