About the game...

So... anybody has any tips about playing Space Empires? Because every time I'm starting a game my empire gets toppled by the gazillion of enemy fighters... and I'm playing on easy.

So I start again and the situation repeats itself. Ah, I'm playing balance mod, which changes a bit into vanilla game. I don't really know the differences between them.

someone help me plz, my game "Space Empires V" keeps getting slower and slower, and everytime i check da integrity of the game files, it says nothing is wrong, i have a driectx9 card, but i dont think that has anything to do with it though, and its gotten so bad that in a single player match, u move the mouse cursor over 1 square to design an f-ing ship, it goes to other side of da f-ing screw wth is going on, heeelp!!!!!

tl;dr - try running it in windowed mode, try turning off graphical options (like clear text, aero in win7), try running it with win xp compatibility, changing resolution to lower one (1024x768 seems to work). Also: update your game to the newest version.

It seems like it may be dx7 problem... if these things haven't worked then read the topic I've linked and try your best. Btw I've got no problems whatoever with game (other than it kicking my a**)

I never really had problems with the fighters :/ They certainly are annoying as they are too quickly for the ships, but I think you should :
1: Get yourself fighters, that should be good
2: Choose quick reloading weapons, don't care about the damages; the fighters don't have a lot of hitpoints

put 20% in research improvement youll win no problem

The best defense agains fighters (and rockets!) are Point Defense Cannons!
Research them.

I just go full on fighters, so I never have this issue. Fighters are OP against AI at least. Point Defense Cannons, or Bomblet Missiles are good. Anything that is point defense will just destroy fighters.
