I don't recall exactly what the multimedia mod contains. At this point, the Balance mod has essentially its own textures for everything but planets (which will happen one day). As of the v125+ series, it also has its own set of remastered or newly created sounds as well.
At the very least I'd recommend playing through a game or two to get a sense of what has changed.
The multimedia mod is just a graphics collection i found and quite liked, but i will stick with your mod now and will be checking your site more frequently from now on!
