To the people saying that "block beats everything", that's... just not at all the case. Blocking does prevent a lot of attacks, yes, but you can't win the game by blocking. If you block for too long, you end up getting Guard Broken, and then your opponent gets a free combo (it happens pretty quickly too, the guard gauge does not last that long for block happy players). Grab also opens up of course, and your opponent will get a full combo most of the time (some characters have specific utilities for their grab like Chad who can use his Character Power, which means either charge your punch, or unleash it and take off a free 1/4 of the opponents health, and some characters like Kisuge can TOD off of that if they have resources). Then of course, whiff punishing is CRUCIAL in this game. With the fact that there are no lows, this makes it where you have to rely on whiff punishes and baits/frametraps to win (you have to go in training mode and lab setups). Some characters have their fair share of unblockables or command grabs as well, or insane ways to chip you out. Characters like Kenpachi have an armored move that is meterless.
In other words, you have to learn how to get into your opponent's head, study what their character's tools are, space properly, and outplay them with the information you learn. You don't need lows to open opponents up in fighting games, they just help, they shouldn't be necessary for you to win.
"frametraps" frametraps don;t exist because nothing is ever plus on block.......
Some characters have unblockables sure, not all, if you happen to be playing someone without unblockables then you can literally whiff punish. Hell characters like Rukio have abilities that clearly say "can chain to many other moves on it" when in reality chain to any other moves literally means can do two blasts or is + after (but is - on block taking a full combo.
Whiff punishing would work if you game allowed you to sidestep attacks, but as is almost all attacks home.
The point is every game has whiff punishing and frame traps and the like and they also have universal tools to open up.
Block doesn't beat everything, it beats most things and if you have 1 minute on the clock and are ahead, holding block and just looking for grabs will be an almost guaranteed win - the fact that so many games end it a time out means there's not enough opening tools
Kind reminder that with broken guard, they can't block the kikou (or whatever that name is) attack, basically losing 2 or 3 bars for free even without being low hp.
People chatting about players 'not understanding' rock-paper-scissor mechanics, clearly haven't queued on the Online mode. Majority of 'high-end' players will just spam the grab dash, due to the grab dashing countering all parries in the game. Which will make maining Shinji, Tosen and Urahara - disappointing, to say the least.
You're probably thinking - 'you can just fast attack the grab you idiot, that's the core of the mechanic'. Well, half the time you won't be able to because by the time the character does the fast attack animation, it's too late due to the laggy netcode and the opponent will be slamming your ass with the same repetitive combo you've seen throughout the entire match.
Bleach Rebirth of Souls is like most Bandai Namco anime games - a stinking turd. covered in a golden, visually pleasing package. Aiming to draw in fans of said anime series, eager to play their favourite characters and clash with the rest of the roster. Always skipping the technicalities, tweaks and god forbid doing any testing. Finally, releasing an unfinished product full of bugs, glitches and other broken ♥♥♥♥. Usually with little to no communication between devs and community.
It launched like ♥♥♥♥, it continues to run like ♥♥♥♥ and will remain a ♥♥♥♥♥♥ anime cash grab.
I like my games complete, and refuse to be a beta tester after playing £85 for a full product (my dumbass bought the ultimate edition).
Plus the Story mode is quantity < quality, it's a slideshow with incomplete bosses.
It has its moments, like the final getsuga vs aizen - which together with the music made me tear up a lil bit inside, not gonna lie. Some of the 'Real Moment' challenges were also fun, on top of being true to the real manga telling (most of the time). But it falls short.
I wanted to like this game, having been watching Bleach since 2010 and I wouldn't be as disappointed if it wasn't for the massive hype and the fact people push this to be the next Tekken of anime games and ♥♥♥♥. Please chill Mr. YouTuber, I respect the hustle but you'll move to the next shiny thing when this ♥♥♥♥ inevitably dies, and I'm guessing it to be in the next few weeks if not earlier...
