Cant create a Room Match with a friend

A friend and I have been trying for days to start a room match, but every time one of us tries to connect we look at a white screen and eventually get a popup telling us we disconnected. The one hosting can always see the other join but the one joining just stares at an infinite white screen with black petals until the disconnect. Weve tried many different things and nothing has worked. Any suggestions are more then welcome.

Side Note: Other people are able to connect and select a character in both our lobbies. but the one person we want to connect to the lobby cant lmao help

Switch the download region of steam to be on the same one

Check if you got a nickname for either you or your friend, happened with me and after I removed my friends nickname we were able to room with each other

Tried this as well to no avail. really hoping a solid fix can be found soon

It's not even better when you finally got to play. Freezes and crashes alot which forces you to restart the game. Rince and repeat.
