Are you in the same region? I've been seeing reports that people from different places can't connect and the online may be region locked.

unfortunately this is happening to a huge chunk of people and is something they really need to fix as me and my brother are in the same household (his pc is down the hallway a bit in his room) yet we were unable to play online with each other all day today. It really sucked
