- Honeymoon phase is over, and the game didn't reach a high peak player count in the first place (6k+ overall peak players) so it was a lot easier to get to 600 after the reduction in players that all games experience after release.
- Lots of people are having issues with stability and performance. Whether that's user error or dev incompetence doesn't matter at this point. The end result is still the same: that a lot of people aren't able to play and a lot of potential buyers are seeing all of the complaints and getting turned off.
- The game's system requirements is a lot higher than what people would expect compared to other anime arena fighters (most other games would have RTX 2070 as the recommended. With Bleach, it's the minimum). That has to turn off some potential buyers as well (the top two GPUs on Steam's March 2025 hardware survey are RTX 3060 and RTX 4060. The third one? GTX 1650. And from there it's a long line of 3060 and 4060 variants as well as APUs. Most people on Steam's hardware survey only meet the minimum requirements, or are barely scraping by. They're probably not going to have a fun time considering the game's optimization issues.)
- I only play single player(I'm probably part of the 600 people still playing), so this might be wrong as I'm just going by hearsay: the game has no ranking so the highly competitive, devoted sweats might be having trouble finding a reason to continue (also, the game relies on your Steam region for matchmaking, so if you are based in a location that has very few players, you'll have problem finding matches compared to someone based in a healthy region.)
- and the biggest one: I put a hex on the game and cursed it to fail because one of the devs looked at me wrong.
First there is no ultrawide so only normal 4k works. OK fine I have to deal with it.
Next problem when using borderless or fullscreen , I dunno why still but it gives a ugly red lines on textures and sort of red glow around textures of bodys in the game. SO to fix this I found if I play in window mode not only does it go semi widescreen like 21:9 almost but it also fixes the red glow and strings issue I was having.
Great so it works to play like that.,. awesome, Well then they patch the game to fix issues in 1.04 or 05 and all sudden I get like 4 fps if I use windowed mode :P
SO the game is one of the most broken games I have ever seen on steam I think at launch.
I had no problems tho playing it from the start I only had these issues but well now I can't even play the game at all without having those red glow or string issues. AND cramped screen due to scaling on the monitor and no correct resolution options.
Update : I'm not sure if it was the 1.05patch that fixed the issue I had with windowed mode was at 5fps all the time. But I restarted my PC and at the same time the patched installed and that issue at last was gone again.
Still issues remains. And alot of them ^^
Notice how the fourms died once those people stopped posting. Becuase even they knew the game was half-baked.
People with problems of the game refunded it or stop playing it outright, and when the defenders had no one to harass with their awful takes, they stopped posting because they didn't even play the game, they just got a hard on by defending bandai.
GGG's PoE2 update was review bombed to hell and they patched the game in less than a week.
It's been proven if the community pushes back enough and gives negative reviews, publishers are basically forced to fix their games ASAP, but people have given Bandai a pass for so long they can get away with anything.
This game should've been generational and it's going to be left in the dust due to not getting enough criticism.
Like lets be serious, this a 60 dollar game thats locked to 1080p in 2025, how anyone is defending that is beyond me.
There's an alternative timeline where anime game players finally pushed back and Bandai stopped releasing slop. We are not in that timeline. I was so excited for this game but I'm happy I refunded. So much untapped potential, but Bandai ruins almost everything they get smaller studios to create.
Also a lot of people on the fence weren’t swayed to buy it. The game fell off the charts immediately after 1 week.
The defenders are just as bad as Bandai at this point.
First ranked was gonna be a day 1 patch.
Now it’s a good thing it never came out because the game was broken. Anything to try and spin a negative into a positive, the correct response was they shouldn’t have sold a beta for $60 or equivalent. Too much blind faith based on nothing also.
As for why this game is failing, aside from being half-baked, sparking zero came just before and made most anime fans lost any trust they had in bandai abilities to respect them.
"Lazy Devs", 5 ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ patches within 3 weeks, 2 of them with balancing measures, yeah, sure, lazy, LOL
