It's likely you won't need an internet connection at all times because it does support local Vs. and there appears to be a decent story mode. It hasn't been confirmed one way or the other though.

I’m worried that they’ll add something like denuvo drm and it would require a constant internet connection to even operate like a lot of games are now

I doubt they would add that for a game with local versus. Sparking Zero for example has the Battle and Training sections available offline.
