it's only common sense. i honestly dont mind only 1 weapon, but it's fking COMMON sense to homogenize all the weapons at least. maybe they just dont have good enough programmers to work on redesigning all the weapons from scratch.
in a 2 weapon system, you could get away with unique weapon playstyles. maybe you want to use a weaker more niche weapon, but AT LEAST you could cover it's weakness by also equipping a more viable weapon in your second slot.
in a 1 weapon system? you simply cant expect balance if you devs dont take the time to make the correct redesigning decisions to all weapon skills to be the COMPLETE package from there on out.
this is why most weapons feel kinda odd, clunky and slow. only some weapons like scythe actually had the evasive movement skills to engage/disengage properly. imagine if all weapons came complete like the scythe kit and had actual evasive skills in their kits.
