This fight is as much a numbers check as it is a test of your understanding of how baton passes work
heres my big tip, have all party members who can't target a weakness for whichever wave use one of the items that corresponds with the enemies weakness.
keep doing that and baton passing until you get the 4th and final baton pass on joker, where you then use an AOE move that targets weakness, and then again with your once more.
the big black bot is just a slug fest, he has no weakness, BUT he is susceptible to multiple moves that allow technicals.
once you beat him, you're in the clear. Goodluck!
The most problematic foes are the green robots. They are weak to Psy and Curse.
Assuming you have only one day to beat Okumura, here are the most precious options :
- Haru must be on your team. You are sleeping on a free baton pass otherwise.
- Any party member able to buff you. Some buffs are available through items like the will seed rings.
- Joker will ideally have a Persona able to do a multitarget Psy/Curse attack.
This fight will be easier if you have Psy/Curse throwables in your bag. They will count as an attack and allow you to perform a baton pass with party members that usually won't have access to Psy/Curse moves. You want to use single target attacks on the first hits in order to reach the highest baton pass level you can afford. Remember : once an enemy is knocked down, he won't give you another opportunity.
You can use Joker (or Haru if she has somehow better stats) to land the final multitarget hit that will trigger the hold-up. I don't remember if all-out attacks scale with baton pass and/or buffs. I'd try to go back (press B during the hold-up) and make another multitarget attack to be safe. Repeat until you're done.
If I remember the fight correctly, the robots can be affected by ailments. Elemental ailments trigger a technical if hit by Nuke, special ailments will do the same with a Psy attack. Don't forget to include Makoto in your party if you go for this strategy.
If you are playing on normal, try to set the difficulty to merciless. Merciless increases the damage delt by technical hits, and hits on weaknesses. As this is exactly how you want to play for this fight, you'll actually have an easier time.
If you have time to spare, play darts with your friends. This will increase their baton pass bonuses.
