Fusion Assistance
I think I'm losing it. I have tried to fuse for Black Rider at least 3 times now, but it's always giving me M. Izanagi Pi. What am I doing wrong?

I assume you are using a fusion calculator? Make sure you are looking at the Royal version, not the regular Persona 5 version, the fusions are different (you couldn't fuse Izanagi at all in the original, for example).

Yes, I know, I'm using a Royal calculator, but I keep getting the same result. Plus, other fusions are giving me inugami.

IME, some of the online fusion calculators are very occasionally flat out wrong. Forex, the one I looked at had a number of 2-persona fusions to get Hell Rider, but none of them worked for me, I had to use the 3-persona version.

I've checked two different sources that gave different fusions both for royal, but neither worked.

If you are exceeding the approximated level ranges when fusing two personas together (i.e., one is a higher level than what the fusion calculator is proposing for fusion material) then you will no longer be able to fuse for the desired persona. It can be as much or little as a difference of 4-6 levels, but fusing material outside the scope of the projected ranges can result in higher-level personas.

I learned this the hard way when doing reverse-fusions for an Arsene with a preferred trait.

If you are pulling a leveled fusion material persona from your registry (meaning you have been using it in battles and it has been accumulating experience) and it is not yielding the projected result then I would recommend trying to either capture another of the same persona that is at the default level the fusion list is indicating it should be at for a fuse to work, or you can always try fusing other personas for it. Alternatively, try using different materials entirely.

If memory serves, Black Rider is not a special persona - there should be plenty of combinations to yield the result. Some other personas only have 1-2 ways to be fused (notably, most of the max-confidant personas).

Play around with the system. It's part of the fun. I would also solicit the friendly advice that thoroughly playing around with the fusion and guillotine system and getting any and (almost) all fusions, traits, and skill setups you want becomes phenomenally easier when you visit Mementos later in what I would call the later stages of the game.

thanks for the advice. i was just able to fuse satanael. turns out ishtar can be fused with satan and kali. also, according to some random guy on the internet, almost all black rider fusions are outdated and lead to m. izanagi. pi.

Which fusion calculator are you using? If it's chinhodado they toggle the dlc personas off by default so the results can be very inaccurate.
