Kasumi is the worst character in the game!

It just blows my mind how some people can even remotely think that Kasumi is a good character in any way. She feels completely out of place in the setting and it's obvious that she was implemented later on, since she is basically completely disconnected to the main story.

Her backstory is shallow and boring and all she does is simping for the protagonist in a super annoying way. Her interactions with the main cast make no sense. And on top of that her perfectionism and "talent" for gymnastics just feels extremely superficial.

We need to stop putting these shallow female sidekicks into RPGs and instead focus on characters that actually have depth and character development to them. Kasumi is just not it, that's a fact not an opinion!

Yes, they are generic, but Kasumi is not less generic, which I don't even feel like "alive". I agree that lack of screen time also problem, but I find it still bad. Just remove her from the plot and nothing will happen, when even Haru has good roles in everything. As I said I think that 3rd semester is pretty bad. They've could put Kasumi earlier. But when you check how they put her in the game and after you watch ending - you will understand that they were not that interested to fuse her nicely in the story, because it would take more time and effort to do. So they did half-assed 3rd semester for a quick cash grab.
I'm Ok with counselor, found some trivia interesting, but I didn't like him cosplaying 4th chairman of Tojo clan and becoming a taxi driver.

They probably could of integrated her into the story better, I won't disagree. However to call her story shallow and shes the worst character when Shinya and Ohya exist is a joke. Personally I like how Maruki ideals clashed with the phantom thieves. They did do him dirty by making him a cab driver, but I kinda wonder if thats a japanese thing that was lost in translation.

Well Kasumi should be deep character as any char in your party. But even you put her in the same line as non-party. Maybe it would've reduce expectations if she was just generic SL

Akechi as entire PT team is very important to the plot. And they all affect things a lot. Remove them and plot will break. This is not really problem with Kasumi, which is not that important, because she was put in story very bad. For example Crow have not a lot screen but they have a good story and they have backstory that could be seen not only for their SL. Heck, if you miss 3rd semester nothing will change and you won't see much difference in endings.

This. She's a weak character because she was bolted on to an existing narrative. I liked her character development in the new semester/palace, but I didn't care too much about her integration in the OG content.

I think an issue is that the game original story was pretty bloated compared to say persona 4 and even more so than persona 3. You never really had that much down time and the gang barely spent time relaxing together compared to P4. I remember thinking this when first completing P5 original. So this adds a problem of how to add Kasumi without completely reworking the story. Maruki is pretty easy as it was just small tibbits of how each of your party members felt and his confidant.

I mean it shouldn't be that hard. They could've just add her as playable char in one of first-mid palaces and give some additional lines, which usually don't matter much. That way she would probably felt more alive and interesting even if her lines didn't do much impact, but at least she would felt like a real party member. But they didn't find it worth probably.
I've played P3F and P4G a long time ago, so I sadly don't remember, but I think they had somewhat same time. In P3 they all located in same dorm, so you probably right that they had more time together

Not really but Akechi definitely takes the cake tho because the game is basically forcing you to sympathize with a serial murderer IF you're going for the Extra True Ending. Every SINGLE CAST in this game went through the same magnitude of torture by adults and yet they never became a murderer unlike Akechi lmao. He's just another villain drunk with power but is jealous of Ren/MC.

Marie at least was in the velvet room. She was barely shoe-horned into the story. Her appearance barely changed the game. Kasumi was FORCED into the P5 story and it turned out bad. Third semester can't save her from that. She's an awful character that doesn't need to be in the story.

Marie is force fed to you and the entire ending is changed to revolve around her making her the whole reason behind everything. I think "barely" is not the word.

I think devs should stop doing stuff like this in general. If you add new characters in a DLC or Expansion, then you have to add them on top of the existing stuff and not forcibly try to put it within that.
