Ann or Makoto?

Hey everyone! So, I'm at that point in Persona 5 Royal where I need to make a BIG decision, and I'm torn. Should I go with Ann or Makoto for the romance option?

I love Ann's energy and how she’s always bringing up the vibe, plus she’s been with the team from the start. I also feel like the game pushes her as the canon romance. But then there’s Makoto, who’s super smart, serious, and badass in battle. I can't pick between Ann’s kindness and Makoto's determination!

I also read that you can romance both but then one beats you up for cheating but later forgives you and you still date both?? And if so how does that play into the ending? Does the game pick randomly one of the girls you are dating?

If you’ve romanced either (or both, no judgment), let me know what you think and why. Help me out here – I’ll take all the advice I can get!

What kinda scumbag you should be to date both or more, that's not how life works, and game give a you a lesson. So i always choose only one for 1 playtrough. But i think maybe 95% of player always choose more than 1, i'm pretty sure. But it's really not mater who romance with, you just get extra scenes with who you start relationships. Romance in personas is something like tertiary, so just choose who you like.

By the way i don't really like both of them, they're normal, but I wouldn't say that I admire them very much. My only love always be only Chie from P4. But in my first playtrough i choose Ann just to have a relationship with at least someone. Ann is a strong person i respect this in her, and Makoto is a blackmailing ♥♥♥♥♥ without a conscience i don't really like her.

Yeah Ryuji is life, it's shame we can't date him.

I prefer Makoto. I romanced her, Ann and Sumi. All in different playthroughs. I actually liked Ann's chemistry with Joker more than I thought I would. But still in P5 Makoto is my choice.

Edit: In my next playthrough I need to go for Haru. I have a feeling that I will enjoy her chemistry. It's always so hard to reject her...

No wrong answer to a question like this but if you're not already interested in a girl then I say date Makoto since it's the most fitting for Joker's character imo. There's no real consequence for dating multiple girls in this game so you COULD do both if you wanna (like you said, they find out but continue to date you anyway)

Thank you for all your replies guys! I decided I will stick to one since I don't like my MC being a cheater even if there is no penalty. I'll probably do Ann and save Makoto for a NG+. Thanks again to everyone!

i romanced Ann first then Makoto, i prefer Ann. I romance one girl per playthrough

During my first run through, I romanced all the women. Having seen a similar scene in Yakuza: Like a Dragon, I wanted to see the big confrontation scene. Later run throughs were, the teacher, the doctor, and finally futaba. My fave scene during the initial run was one where Joker says he would be into marriage, and his four female teammates react to that. Futaba's reaction is adorable. My fave girlfriend is the teacher, though.
