(i've only played the original P3 so cant say how better the reload is over the original, other then improved graphics)
For the a while, I was 'meh' about the game. Playing it just to play it. Then I started to notice hours slipping away and really enjoying the story and game.
If you're looking for a good rpg, I strongly recommend this one.
(I've actually recommended it to people as a great soundtrack with a great game attached.) The story and most of the characters are great, as is the soundtrack.
I took my time, and the first playthough was almost 150 hours.
The voice acting is top also notch, even in English, that doesn't happen very often.
If you want turn base Shin Megami Tensei. Not much stories and lot lot lot lot lot of fight. For 3 just like 2 step battle start.
I shall put Persona 5 on my list!
At least thats what i feelt, from watching it.
It doesn't seem to have any links to previous games in the franchise at all. Maybe there are nods and references I'm missing, but if so, they're not important.
The characters in the game are brand new to its world too, so you're introduced to things at the same time they are.
So, to me, at least these two Persona games do have something in them, that every other JRPG has failed to offer...
