Is Persona 4 Arena Ultimax worth it?

Sorry for posting this on P5R community, but i don't own P4G. Is it worth it in 2023? Casually or Competitively. Are the bots on hard difficulty and higher challenging? I'm considering between Persona 4 Arena and Mortal Kombat 11. I want to hear opinions from others.

It's fun. I played it quite a bit on my PS3 years ago. It's still worth it today, especially if you like the stories of Persona 3 and 4.

I'm currently playing Persona 3 and i want to play Persona 4 in the future, but right now i'm mainly here because of the gameplay and mechanics, the fighting part mainly i would say.

It takes place after P4. So, yes, a spin off. With major spoilers for the original game

P4AU is rather unique in terms of gameplay for a 2D fighter. So if you're into fighting games and primarily concerned with gameplay, it's worth taking a look. I personally am not a fan of the controls which involves a lot of 2 button inputs to do things like sweep attacks, overheads, etc. The PC port btw, is not a really good port. It has some technical issues with it since day 1 which even till now aren't fixed - like movies playing in a separate window which really hurts the overall experience. However, these technical issues don't happen to everyone, so you may need to check out the discussions at that end first to make a more informed decision.

Anyway, I don't think P4AU translates the Persona experience well - in terms of the storytelling. So if you're thinking of getting it for story, I'd say give it a pass. The story isn't great but the storytelling in the form of visual novel is pretty bad imo.
