How to advance social links beyond "I don't think my bond will deepen just yet"

I have the same situation with Takemi, Ann, and Sojiro. Do I just have to waste time hanging out with them anyway? I've tried looking for things to boost their affection towards me, and Sojiro seems to have the only one--cleaning the bathroom at LeBlanc. I did it a bunch of times but my bond still won't deepen with him. Am I doing something wrong?

Other than Sojiro, both Takemi and Ann shouldn't need you to hang out with them if in the previous interaction you answers correctly and bring matching Personas. But since you're already in this position, just hang out with both of them once to unlock the next level up.

For Ann there are sometimtes events in class where you can give her the correct answer to a teacher's question. Doing so will improve the relationship. They are rare though. I'm at the end of July and I think I had two of them so far.

Sojiro's rank won't go past 4 until you reach a certain point in the story.

It depends on your progress through the game. Kudos on the effects of cleaning the toilet. Didn't know about that. These are the ones I recalled from the top of my head.

Ann:
You can fish for classroom event where you helped her to answer questions. I think 6/20 and 7/7 are the dates more relevant to you.

Takemi, Ann, and Sojiro:

• You might be able to buy postcards from discount store and send them via the mailbox in Yogen-Jaya for a small boost. There is a Sunday sales event that has postcards iirc.
  
• Sleeping early might randomly let MC dream of one of the confidants and raising affection.
  
• Fortune telling.
  
• Visiting temple. (Requires reading a book to unlock location)

Generally, I would just raise social stats instead and try to unlock Fortune rank 5 asap. Sojiro has an early rank that takes a lot to rank up which is not worth it if your social stats isn't maxed. But ultimately dont worry too much about it. Time is plentiful enough to max confidant levels with a few mistakes/inefficiencies here and there.

Don't think I've unlocked most of the mechanics you are mentioning. I have no idea who fortune is. I'm on 6/12 if that helps. Otherwise, thanks for the answers. Guess I'll just focus on stats and worry about it later.

Ann and Takemi yes, waste time with them in cloudy/sunny day will grant u a decoration for Joker's room, while Sojiro it will stuck at level 4 up to certain palace later done.

However specially for sojiro if it still insist "i don't think my bond will deepen yet" yes u need waste time with him by making coffee only, because making curry won't add his "confidant notes", cleaning leblanc also doesn't get any bonus, wasting time with him only grant 2 notes w/o any bonus so making coffee is worth the time, don't forget bring hiero-related persona before making coffee.

I'll be using arcana name to avoid spoiler.

I'd say if you're willing to do multiple run, 1st run focus on social stats and for confidant focus on moon, temperance, and hierophant. sun is also nice to have. 2nd run max out all confidant ez just by having persona that match their arcana.

If you're unwilling to do multiple run, hierorphant can only progress above rank 4 after unlocking hermit. For lovers just grab lovers persona to get out of the not grow phase faster and later after you unlock fortune it will help you progress all confidant faster.

Have you made coffee yet? Cleaning is not required iirc.

To advance the Social links you need those (♪ you normally get 1 to 3) from lvl 1 to 2 you need to have.....2 from 2 to 3 you need 3 and so on....

So yeah you need to act like a psycopath and choose which answer will give more of those ♪ instad of actually give your opinions(what they want to hear).

While cleaning bathrooms are not a bad way to do it since it will give 1 of the ♪ and one point of skills so yeah you could advance a Social Link(confidant) without "talking" without hanging out with them but yeah you might end up needing a lot of points for that but normally yeah you will need to hangout with them a second or third time and waste time

And using a Persona of the same type of the confidant gives you 2 or 3 free ♪
